5 Minutes, 5 Questions With…
Aaron Dennis, author of “Lokians: Book1 Beyond the End of the World”
In the year 2111, a special operations team, led by Captain O’Hara, discovers alien beacons on planet Eon. After removal and subsequent study of the beacons, the Humans make first contact with a race of aliens called Thewls. These beings inform the Human that a second race of aliens, insect-like monsters called Lokians, scour the galaxy in search of advanced civilizations.
The Lokians’ goal is to kill the Thewls and harvest their tech, which they splice into their own bodies. The Humans join the Thewls in search of a third race of aliens simply called travelers.
Will securing the travelers be enough to save the galaxy from the destructive powers of the Lokians? Yes, and no, as this is a series.
Packed with action, philosophical debate, and realistic tech, “Lokians: Book 1” will enthrall many readers.
Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write “Lokians: Book1 Beyond the End of the World”?
Aaron Dennis: All of my writing comes from dreams I’ve had. When I was a kid, I had this dream about working with aliens to find other aliens in order to battle a third race. It wasn’t the Lokians, travelers or Thewls. All those races came from other dreams. I just spliced them together.
It’s simple, really. As long as I dream the awful, nightmarish, things that I do, I’ll never run out of stories to tell.
JP: What sets “Lokians: Book1 Beyond the End of the World” apart from other books in the same genre?
AD: Well, I don’t like the science fiction flooding the markets today. I wrote these books for action fans and for people who don’t really like to read in general. So far, I’ve gotten excellent feedback. Come see why.
JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to “Lokians: Book1 Beyond the End of the World” getting out to the public?
AD: Advertising, advertising, advertising. It’s impossible to get everyone to like what you’ve written. There’s no point in trying to get hundreds of reviews. Instead, one should advertise, as people can’t buy what they don’t know exists. So, yes, advertise, and with Joey Pinkney! 🙂
JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish “Lokians: Book1 Beyond the End of the World”?
AD: Get the story down. Regardless of how jumbled, how poorly written, or whatever, just get it down. Revisions can go on forever, so it’s not an issue. All too often, people just don’t finish what they’ve started because they obsess over some silly word, sentence, or paragraph.
It took me 5 months to get the story down, a month to edit on my own and about 2 months for editing with Eternal Press. “Lokians: Book 1” is the first book I ever wrote. The stories write themselves. I act as a guiding hand.
JP: What’s next for Aaron Dennis?
AD: With the third installment of Lokians scheduled for release in May of 2013, I’ve turned my attention to a gritty, brutal, fantasy adventure. “From Blood” is in progress. I promise everyone this will change the world of reading. Stay tuned people. Expect big things.
