Rare Cuts is a brand new short story collection from popular horror author Michael Laimo.

From the author of Dead Souls, Deep in the Darkness, and Return to Darkness comes this new collection of short stories spanning the 20 year career of Michael Laimo. Rare Cuts is the fourth collection of short stories from Laimo, bringing together all those stories unfitting for his previous collections.

Here you will find extreme horror tales, tales of fantasy, science fiction and suspense. There are many original stories to this collection, as well as rare tales that first appeared in small press magazines, back in the 1990’s.

This is a big collection, containing 24 stories, nearly 80,000 words of horror fiction.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Rare Cuts?

Michael Laimo: Laying in bed at night, letting the wheels turn, with thoughts of someday hitting it big.

JP: What sets Rare Cuts apart from other books in the same genre?

ML: After 20 years and 10 books published in the mainstream, this is my first self-pubbed book. I’d like to think that not too many successful authors have gone this route.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Rare Cuts getting out to the public?

ML: Being patient, and allowing yourself to take baby steps en route to success.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Rare Cuts?

ML: It takes me a year to write a full novel. This is a collection, however, so I simply relied on many of my works that had not been collected yet.

JP: What’s next for Michael Laimo?

ML: A major motion picture based on my novel Dead Souls, will be filmed in April, and will appear on NBC’s Chiller Network in the fall of 2012.
