JoeyPinkney.com Exclusive Interview
5 Minutes, 5 Questions With…
RJ Champ, author of A Beautiful Satan
(DC Bookdiva Publications)
It’s about a woman: Angel Rising. She suffers heartbreak, humiliation, and a terrible loss when she catches her husband in bed with another woman.
On the rebound, Angel jumps into the arms of another man, Jovan. Within three months, they marry. A devastating incident occurs soon after the wedding. Angel suffers an emotionally–charged psychological breakdown, which inadvertently unleashes a secret alter-ego in the form of a maniacal delusional serial killer, Natasha.
Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write A Beautiful Satan?
RJ Champ: Through my life experiences as a bachelor and eventually a married man. From a woman’s perspective, I noticed women, married women in particular, had a serious gripe with women who knowingly pursued relationships with married men. That sparked the idea to create a character with a dual-personality.
JP: What sets A Beautiful Satan apart from other books in the same genre?
RJ: My goal when I embarked on this project was to create a character and a story which I hadn’t been told yet. Most stories I found highlighted the plight of the man as a player, pimp, or mack that has his cake and is eating it too. A couple squabbles here and there with the wife and the mistress or girlfriend.
I wanted to flip the script. A Beautiful Satan highlights the plight of a dark heroine who targets the mistress and the girlfriends. I’ve never seen it done before.
JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to A Beautiful Satan getting out to the public?
RJ: Staying focused and having an unstoppable drive, a keen sense of foresight and determination. Making my profession my obsession – the Universal keys to success.
JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish A Beautiful Satan?
RJ: My writing process begins with visualization, I first have to see the story unfolding and playing it out in mind. Afterwards, I construct a plot where twist and turns and conflict arise. From that point on, I’m mentally putting the pieces of a puzzle together, choreographing the scenes as I write.
From start to finish, A Beautiful Satan took approximately 6 months from the creative thought process to the final manuscript form.
JP: What’s next for RJ Champ?
RJ: I’m excited about A Beautiful Satan II, which is currently in production. Also, I’m working on numerous projects with that same creative vibe – cutting edge stories with unique plots and colorful characters that I’m sure will excite and intrigue my readers, the genre and the public. I created a new form of urban novels, which I’ve labeled: Urban Universal.

Thank you for stopping by, Ms. Simmons. I appreciate you taking the time to comment.
The fact that I introduced you to a new author and a new and exciting book made my day. I’m glad to have made the connection. If you liked the synopsis, did you have a chance to read the interview?
Yes! I read the interview.. I love the fact he noticed women are irritated when a woman pursues a married man.. I know I can’t stand that mess.. So I will be happy to see what unfolds in this story. I believe all women are bi-polar in some ways.. we just won’t admit it.. LOL
