JoeyPinkney.com Exclusive Interview
5 Minutes, 5 Questions With…
Cha’Bella Don, author of Dirtiest Revenge
(Twenty-First Urban Editing)
DIRTIEST REVENGE is about a woman who tries to give love a second chance and will do anything to have it. She is living the fast life and is missing the love from her father.
All of the cheating and disloyalty has her going in circles. She really starts to give up until she is saved by her knight in shinning armor. You know how us ladies do a brother showing you attention – being there for you saying all the right words to have you hanging on a string…
Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Dirtiest Revenge?
Cha’Bella Don: I’ve always written poetry and short stories when I was younger. A friend challenged my cousin and I to a book: he would write from the man’s point of view and we would do it from the woman’s point of view.
Tragedy struck, and I lost the passion until later meeting Author Mimi Renee. We both had a passion for reading and writing. She encouraged me more. A lot of authors have inspired me: K’wan, Treasure Blue, Wahida Clark, Nikki Turner, Erick Gray, Zane, Ashley & JaQuavis. Reading their books inspired me a whole lot as well as their hustle
JP: What sets Dirtiest Revenge apart from other books in the same genre?
CD: As authors, we have the same basic ingredients: a hero and a bad guy, lies, deceit, betrayal, etc. What sets my book apart from the others is that no one has ever heard my side of the story, my plots, my twists, my turns. Each character is a replica of real people – either me or someone I know.
JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Dirtiest Revenge getting out to the public?
CD: Promotion and advertising.
JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Dirtiest Revenge?
CD: Wow… (laughter) I was in process of writing a different book, but I lost it on the bus or train. When I was trying to re-write it, Dirtiest Revenge popped in my mind. I was writing it by hand at first because I didn’t have a computer. It took 9 months to complete.
JP: What’s next for Cha’Bella Don?
CD: Working on an anthology, entitled Traces of My Lipstick: A Gangtress Elite Tale, with three other ladies from my W-Cam Authors group: Raynesha Pittman, Kelly Wiley aka Brooke Lynn and Brandy Lerue. This anthology will be published by Author Mimi Renee under Ink Game, so be on the look out for that. I’m also working on an erotic book as well. I have my hands all over.
