Dawn Jasper, author of Beautiful Disasters
(Pink Kiss Publishing)

Everything that glitters is not gold, and every beautiful face has a story to tell…

A product of rape, a motherless child, a woman full of hate… All she needs is a purpose.

All Anika Connors ever wanted was to have things her way, by any means necessary. She was, in her mind, deserving of it after all the hardship she had experienced in her life. The more people upset her, the more she wanted them to pay. From the lover who did her wrong to the men that brought disgrace to her family, she planned to get them back.

But in the end, is it all worth it? Does her path of destruction threaten her future… Or will she do what she always does, destroy anyone who gets in her way?

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Beautiful Disasters?

Dawn Jasper: I initially starting writing about a stalker situation that happened to me, but the words just wouldn’t come out on paper like I wanted. Instead, a conversation between two people developed. From there, it became a few paragraphs that I posted in my notes on Facebook.

My friends requested more, so I decided to give it a shot. I had been writing since I was eight, but I never shared it with anyone other than family members. It was the encouragement from friends that helped me to take the next step.

JP: What sets Beautiful Disasters apart from other books in the same genre?

DJ: I’m still not exactly sure what genre I fall into, so that alone sets it apart. I feel that I write from a realistic perspective that anyone can relate to.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Beautiful Disasters getting out to the public?

DJ: Networking is key, along with word of mouth. It’s important to interact with readers, see what they enjoy reading about. I’m an avid reader myself, and I enjoy meeting authors. The more personable you are the more readers will recommend you to others.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Beautiful Disasters?

DJ: I write as the mood hits me. I always carry my laptop or tablet with me wherever I go. I get the bulk of my writing done when I am dealing with my bouts of insomnia. This book took roughly nine months to write.

JP: What’s next for Dawn Jasper?

DJ: My second book Familiar Strangers was just released the end of October, so now I’m working on my 3rd and 4th booksDeliberate Mistakes and Comfortable Lies, scheduled to come out in the Spring. Next summer, I want to try my hand at a romantic comedy and suspense novel.
