Part memoir, part self-help, The Spinsterlicious Life chronicles the life, adventures, joys and realities of a happily single woman in a “married-is-normal” world. It’s a funny, clever, and insightful read for any woman who is single…for the time being or for a lifetime.
Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write The Spinsterlicious Life: 20 Life Lessons for Living Happily Single and Childfree?
Eleanore Wells: I’m single and have a really nice life. I was inspired to write the book by all the curious people who would ask me directly or by inference, “How it’s possible for a woman to be fulfilled without a husband or children?” Marriage and kids are not for everyone, but a great life can be available to all. I’m living proof.
JP: What sets The Spinsterlicious Life: 20 Life Lessons for Living Happily Single and Childfree apart from other books in the same genre?
EW: Many books targeted to single women are about ‘how to get a man’. My book is about ‘how to get a life’.
JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to The Spinsterlicious Life: 20 Life Lessons for Living Happily Single and Childfree getting out to the public?
EW: The readers of my blog, http://www.TheSpinsterliciousLife.com, have been instrumental in helping me spread the word. I have a strong readership of smart and clever women around the world, and they help me celebrate my book.
JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish The Spinsterlicious Life: 20 Life Lessons for Living Happily Single and Childfree?
EW: I wrote the book in about six months. It’s part memoir, so the stories were already there, I just had to commit them to paper. It was a fun and exciting process because, as I wrote the book, I relived in my head the events and reacquainted myself with the characters, some of whom I had lost contact with.
JP: What’s next for Eleanore Wells?
esw: Next for me is extending the Spinsterlicious brand to include properties that bring my philosophy to life: speaking engagements, wine tastings, dinner parties, travel and probably another book. I’m also in talks with an L.A. producer about a TV show based on my blog and book.

For the first time in American history, there are more unmarried than married adults. We need to get ‘ok’ with the notion that being married isn’t a better life, it’s just a different life. Being single, child-free, and unencumbered can be pretty nice, too.
