JoeyPinkney.com Exclusive Interview
5 Minutes, 5 Questions With…
Charity Parkerson, author of Being His Favorite
(Punk & Sissy Publications )
Every day at 8am, Jane meets her online lover for their daily tryst on Skype, and there is nothing that she won’t do in order to please him. When he sends another woman to her door as a special gift, she reminds him of why she is his favorite channel, and he could watch her all day.
Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Being His Favorite?
Charity Parkerson: In September 2011, I won the Mistress of the Darkpath writing contest with a flash fiction piece on Jane Hughes. Afterwards, I received several emails from people wanting to know what happened to her. I thought about it for several days as I pondered over how best to keep a long distance relationship hot, and Being his Favorite was born.
JP: What sets Being His Favorite apart from other books in the same genre?
C.P.: I don’t know if there is anything that sets my book apart from any other book out there in the same genre. There are so many great books out there that it is hard to stand out above the rest.
The two biggest compliments that I get on my books are that they are hot and well-written. I don’t know if that makes me stand out, but if that is what a reader is looking for that is what they will find in my book.
JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Being His Favorite getting out to the public?
C.P.: Hard work, dedication, and a tremendous love of what I do.
JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Being His Favorite?
C.P.: This book is a short story, so it did not take me very long. The idea began last September but went on the back burner because of my Sinners Series. I picked it back up a few weeks ago and was able to finish it pretty quickly.
JP: What’s next for Charity Parkerson?
C.P.: The third book in my paranormal Sinners Series is due to release this Fall. Hopefully I will have another project of mine, The Splash of Hope out by the end of this year.
