This is a coming of age story that is about a young man named Nice. The memory of his father continues to stress the importance of pursuing his education even though his father was doing business in the streets.
After tragedy strikes again, Nice decides that his life needs to move beyond its dull pace. He takes matters into his own hands by starting up his own business. Nice begins to attract a lot of attention as it grows. Now he must decide who his true friends are as he moves forward.
Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write “Hustle: Street Power“?
Jonathan Copeland: The inspiration for “Hustle: Street Power” came from God and my wife being pregnant with my now two-year-old son. I asked God what I can do because things were not going well in my life.
I didn’t want my wife to look at me like a failure as a husband and father. I needed something that was going to put us in a position to be our own boss and make our own destiny. God showed me the way to writing this book and more to come.
JP: What sets “Hustle: Street Power“ apart from other books in the same genre?
JC: “Hustle: Street Power” is detailed from beginning to end. It starts off with suspense and ends with suspense. It is the first book that has you inside the pages. You become the characters. It will have you at the end of every chapter asking yourself do you really want to stop.
JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to “Hustle: Street Power“ getting out to the public?
JC: I knew that I had a captivating story that I wanted to share. I had determination to look for publishers and different methods for promoting this novel even when it was rejected or I did not have the money. Simply, I never gave up.
JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish “Hustle: Street Power“?
JC: It took me a year and a half to finish “Hustle: Street Power”. I take an hour out of each day to write a chapter or two to keep the story interesting and fresh.
JP: What’s next for Jonathan Copeland?
JC: The next thing for me is taking “Hustle: Street Power” to the next level by finishing the second installment to the series I am creating.
