Rocky Rose, author of Stirred & Shaken
(RockWrite Publishing)
In Stirred & Shaken, Qortni jumps into a relationship with Tony right after ending her physically abusive relationship with Qamar. Qortni soon finds out that Tony isn’t the man she once thought he is, but she can’t deny the love she has for him. Will Qortni and Tomy be together or will their relationship end just as quickly as it started?
Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Stirred & Shaken?
Rocky Rose: My life was my inspiration for Stirred & Shaken. Personal life experiences that I lived some years back are the foundation for this story.
JP: What sets Stirred & Shaken apart from other books in the same genre?
RR: Stirred & Shaken gives people the ugly truth about emotional abuse. When people hear about domestic violence, they automatically assume physical abuse and it goes so much deeper than the physical.
My book My Man My Abuser gave people the truth about my physically abusive relationship. With the sequel, Stirred & Shaken, people will get to see how I was emotionally abused. I’m allowing my readers into my space – into my world.
JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Stirred & Shaken getting out to the public?
RR: I didn’t quit. I didn’t allow fear to take over and scare me from doing what I set out to do. I have sat under and have been taught by some of the best in the writing industry on how to remove fear from your vocabulary and go for what you want.
JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Stirred & Shaken?
RR: I write everyday. I may not be in front of my computer everyday, but I write everyday. Stirred & Shaken took about a year to complete. I started it and restarted it about five times or so before I got the flow and feel I was looking for. Since this book is based on my experiences, forming the characters was easy.
JP: What’s next for Rocky Rose?
RR: I am currently working on the third and final installment of the My Man My Abuser series, Bruised Never Broken. I’m also working on a standalone, Pastors Kyd, which is loosely based on my life as a PK. I also have in the works my first erotic novel, Initiation, and I’m re-releasing my first novella I Win You Lose.
