5 Minutes, 5 Questions With…
Holly Spence, author of Convent of Lies the Untold Truth
(Monarch Publications, LLC )
Carl Richardson and Henry McFinley are second-generation childhood friends who married their high school sweet hearts and best friends Jessica Richardson and Stephanie McFinley. The couples have been practically inseparable for over twenty years, weathering many relational storms.
However, a riveting twist of lies and deceit not only threatens the covenant of marriage of both the McFinley and Richardson’s, but their children who have grown up like brother and sister who are maturing and attracted to one another. Follow the lives of these characters as their self-created web of lies unravels in Covenant of Lies The Untold Truth.
Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the idea and inspiration to write Covenant of Lies the Untold Truth?
Holly Spence: It was actually birthed after writing my stage play, “STOP! You Are Killing ME.†I belong to Overflow Ministries Covenant Church, and we do a lot in the performing arts. A production team member suggested that our next production be a drama, so I came up with the story line.
It was intended to be a stage production, but I had already “pushed the envelope†with “STOP!â€. To release it out of my mind, I decided it would be a book. This book is the first in a trilogy.
JP: What sets Covenant of Lies the Untold Truth apart from other novels in the Christian Fiction genre?
HS: I believe the suspense and drama of it all. It’s not filled with religious jargon and makes for good, clean reading entertainment. It is also a very easy read purposely written double space to encourage those that do not normally read.
JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that lead to Covenant of Lies the Untold Truth getting out to the public?
HS: Networking and social media outlets have been a wonderful tool and every author should take advantage of the technology that is available.
JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take for you to start and finish Covenant of Lies the Untold Truth?
HS: My writing process is when writing non-fiction is actually the title of the book and outline the chapter titles. When writing fiction it’s the complete opposite. It is having the scenario and how it will play out. It took me about four months to write Covenant of Lies the Untold Truth.
JP: What’s next for Holly Spence?
HS: Actually to release the sequel to Covenant of Lies the Revealed Truth scheduled for Fall 2010. I have completed another stage production called “Dysfunction… It Does Affect Generationsâ€.
