For years, many of God’s people have been held captive by Satan because of sin (Self Indulging Needs) harboring in their hearts and minds. Unbound is a short novella that utilizes realistic situations with hopes of encouraging sinners to gain freedom from bondage by turning to God. It demonstrates how God searches the heart and reveals the things that have a person bound.

Unbound gives examples of how one has to take the authority given to them by God, shows how to activate their faith and how to surrender and allow God’s power to transform them into a new creature. Unbound tells a story of a ghetto, unsaved church secretary that falls deeply in love with her successful Pastor, Joseph L. Jenkins.

After years of the two being in a relationship and hopes of one day getting married, Shanta and Pastor Jenkins’ puppy love comes to a tragic end. The tragedy is Mrs. Jenkins finding out about her husband’s infidelity. Despite the fact of the affair being known to the public, Shanta refused to give up on her first true love. Besides, what would you do if the man you believe is your husband, already had a wife?

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the idea and inspiration to write Unbound?

Kia Stokes: I first started writing as a teenager to escape the pain of childhood molestation. As I grew older, my love for entertaining others through writing became stronger. Then one day, God placed the idea of writing for him in my heart. I learned the art of spreading laughter and delivering a positive message about the Lord through writing.

JP: What sets Unbound apart from other novels in its genre?

KS: Unbound is not your normal inspirational fiction novel because it carries you through a mixture of emotions. It will make you laugh while you are enjoying your sin, cry when you realize you are disappointing God and then repent of your sins. The characters are so real, you would swear I was talking about the people around you.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that lead to Unbound getting out to the public?

KS: The key to Unbound‘s success depends on me remaining focused and keeping a positive outlook on my mission and purpose. Also knowing that when a door closes, I have to thank God and let go of the knob.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take for you to start and finish Unbound?

KS: It took approximately two years to write Unbound from start to finish. My writing process included meditation and just using the vivid imagination that God has blessed me with.

JP: What’s next for Kia Stokes?

KS: I am about to start my book tour to promote Unbound. I hope to develop Unbound into a stage play and eventually a motion picture. I am also currently working on my second novel titled Hidden Hurt and a sequel to Unbound.

Book Review: Keys of Destiny by Adin Kachisi

When a novel has a bibliography, you know you are about to embark on a journey that aims to separate fact from fiction!

Keys of Destiny is Adin Kachisi’s fourth novel. He delves deep the ancient cultures of the world, showing how they connect present-day societies and current events. From beginning to end, Keys of Destiny pushes the reader to a broader understanding of the world, both geographically and spiritually.

Keys of Destiny is able to keep your attention regardless of your level of knowledge of world history. If you are totally unfamiliar with ancient history, conspiracy theories and secret societies, you will stand to learn a lot about how different religions and groups of people from various time periods are connected. If you are well-versed in historical studies, Key of Destiny is a refreshing utilization of nonfiction in a fictitious setting.

The main character, Kazra Moore, is a professor at City College in New York City. He is educated and trained in Western philosophies. He is overwhelmed by his spiritual awareness of the shift that slowly takes place around him. Things like this preoccupation with the number 11 and the Mayan apocalyptic theory involving the year 2012 seems to be related but Kazra can not figure out why. Things begin to unfold when he gets a phone call from Rick, his favorite student. Rick’s uncle is a Creek Elder and wants to meet Kazra.

That meeting with Uncle Yuccah in Carterville, GA, proves to be much more than Kazra could have imagined. The sacred crystals, known as the Keys of Destiny, are scattered around the globe and must be gathered and brought back to the Creek Elder Yuccah to initiate an aspect the Purification ceremony which will eliminate the negative energy stuck on the Earth’s physical plane. Otherwise, two-thirds of humanity will perish in the Earth’s natural cleansing process. This is the same purification previously prophesied by many ancient cultures and currently seen manifested in the natural and man-made disasters around the world.

Yuccah already possesses one of the keys. It’s Kazra’s spiral-shaped birthmark reveals him to be the person who has the task of gathering the three remaining keys. Kazra must use his spiritual awareness and deductive reasoning to figure out where in the world to go – literally. Kazra travels from the United States to Ireland to Ethiopia to Zimbabwe to Korea. He is lead to each location by by his intuition and connects with religious and historical scholars at each location who are able to connect him with the keys he needs. Each location is beautiful but equally dangerous since Kazra is followed by the Illuminati Order of Kingu, an evil cult in search of the same Keys.

Great dialog and attention to detail makes this novel easy to read and hard to put down. Although many of the conversations are intellectual in nature, Adin Kachisi allows the characters to give you the facts in easy-to-digest, bite-sized chunks. He has also mastered the use of imagery that is so vivid, you can mentally visualize the natural settings, peoples and languages. You can also picture the super-natural beings, both good and evil. These characters are sprinkled throughout the story and easily transform Keys of Destiny from National Geographic to X Files and back again.

The African Rises is a fictional story drawing on past and present historic material. It takes a unique approach to examining how power is used by a minority to maintain their control over the vast resources of Africa in the post modern world. It does so using a modern interpretation of the trilogy of Ausar, Aset and Heru sometimes referred to as the Ausarian drama and the struggle for power between Ausar and his evil Brother Set in ancient Egypt.

The African Rises expands on the trilogy and uses it as a base to tell the story of an African male living in the United States who returns to Africa seeking to unify the continent. The story details the challenges faced by this individual to achieve that goal and the attempts by foreign powers to stop him.

The main character Sekhem must also deal with his own internal conflict and the great power he possesses on his own quest for spiritual freedom. The only question is will he complete his task in time and defeat a great and ancient evil that has also been watching his movements and waiting for a time to reveal its ultimate horror for humankind?

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the idea and inspiration to write The African Rises?

Claude M. Beauregard: I got the idea for the book while learning how to read Hieroglyphs. I was always fascinated by the culture of Nuba and Kemet. But a lot of people especially African Americans seem uninterested in learning about this history as a whole. So I thought why not spruce it up and make it more interesting by incorporating this information in the form of an adventure story while also including some of the modern problems facing the African Diaspora.

JP: What sets The African Rises apart from other novels in its genre?

CB: It takes information from an ancient history and presents it in a form that as more appealing than simply reading dry facts. That can become boring very quickly. It also incorporates a lot of the religious beliefs of those ancient cultures.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that lead to The African Rises getting out to the public?

CB: Just being tenacious and not giving up.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take for you to start and finish The African Rises?

CB: I really don’t have a process. I kinda of let the story flow based on how I wanted to present the facts that the story was based upon. I know from experience that a lot of readers have had problems with chapter 3 of the book. It’s so in your face. We don’t like hearing the truth about how we screwed ourselves over.

JP: What’s next for Claude M. Beauregard?

CB: Business success in both marketing my patents and commercial real estate.
