JoeyPinkney.com Exclusive Interview
5 Minutes, 5 Questions With…
Cole Hart, author of A-Town Veteran
(Write-A-Lot Publishing)
A-Town Veteran is a gripping street tale based in Atlanta’s underworld. Young Hollywood was raised in one of the most notorious projects on the westside of the city. He is the youngest of an infamous clique with money to burn the long way.
When the tables finally turn on Young Hollywood, Young Hollywood finds himself with his back is against the wall and, a son at fifteen and a baby mama that could care less.
Young Hollywood’s luck finally runs out, and he’s sentenced to a Georgia state prison with more time than a man should be able to handle. And the question is, how does he start a multi-million dollar record label from prison?
Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write A-Town Veteran?
Cole Hart: This book in particular, I was on lock down in the hole when I begin writing it in 2008. It took me a year to finish it. This is one of my best novels. However, it’s not my first. I’ve been writing eleven years now, and I’m definitely strapped.
JP: What sets A-Town Veteran apart from other books in the same genre?
CH: My ambition as a writer makes me go harder. This novel will speak for itself, and the foundation is solid. Building strong, believable characters is what makes a great book. Sometimes you can be caught up in a book because you was caught up in a character.
JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to A-Town Veteran getting out to the public?
CH: God is the main key. My wife holds the next key. And once again my ambition. Where I’m at you got to have drive and determination.
JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish A-Town Veteran?
CH: I like to write early in the morning. With this novel, it was a year.
JP: What’s next for Cole Hart?
CH: I’ll be dropping books on Amazon like Gotti be dropping mix tapes. Crazy Summer is coming next month and Country White Boys right behind that. Then Money Change Faces Parts one and two.
Also, I’ve published some booklets for the youths titled Passport: United Streets of America. This is a wake-up call and a positive colossal movement.
