5 Minutes, 5 Questions With…
Dean Jéan-Pierre, author of The Pussy Whispers
(CalmWaters Entertainment Group)

The Pussy Whispers is a sensually written collection of erotica short stories and poetry that arouses all of your senses as you read them. It is the kind of erotica that once you’re finished reading it, the imagery and stories stay with you.

Each story allows the reader to see bits and pieces of themselves in a character. You won’t always like what you see, but the desires of the mind and body cannot always be controlled.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write The Pussy Whispers?

Dean Jéan-Pierre: Before I’m a writer, I’m a reader. With that being said, I wanted to write something that was smart, sophisticated and allowed readers to experience more than just the pleasure of erotica reading.

I saw a void, a niche that had to be filled, and I believe that what I write has the ability to fill that void for a lot of readers who want to feel that after reading an erotica story that they have learned something about themselves. That’s my hope.

The inspiration comes from a life lived, from my imagination, from bits and pieces of conversations of friends, family and strangers. When you put all that together on paper, The Pussy Whispers was moaned–I meant born.

JP: What sets The Pussy Whispers apart from other books in the same genre?

DJP: There is more than enough room in this genre for all kinds of erotica writing. I choose my words very carefully as I write to elicit the kind of responses I want from a particular scene.

There is a certain magic in words when you string them together in just the right way. Each one is a diamond. When they all come together, it’s like having a beautiful necklace or bracelet that captures your attention.

Reading, writing for me is about capturing the reader’s attention. I believe that the kind of “cerebral” erotica I write is a deliberate attempt by me to mind f**k my readers. I hope that I am successful.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to The Pussy Whispers getting out to the public?

DJP: The keys are having people who believe in your work – be it family, friends and also people who can voice their opinions when they see something wrong. I have a good partner at CWEG in Pascale Jacques.

You need readers to spread the word about your book by telling friends, blogging and posting reviews. If you have a great product but no one reviews or speaks about it, then it remains a secret and you are essentially just writing for yourself. You have to be in it for the long haul and not the immediate gratification of believing that you will be on the NYT Best Sellers or make a ton of money.

You probably never will make that much money, so you have to love what you do. It has to be a burning passion in your soul. Lastly, somewhere along the line, you have to get lucky. You just never know when your Tipping Point will come.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish The Pussy Whispers?

DJP: I am an insomniac, so I write a lot between the hours of 12-4am. I write on the train, when I’m walking–I write everywhere. I norrnally don’t write down scenes or ideas. I will come up with a few character names, have a general idea in my mind of what I will write.

If I need to research a location, I can either google it or if it’s close by just go to it. I don’t edit myself as I write It’s free-flowing and allows me to write without thinking or censoring myself.

The Pussy Whispers didn’t take that long to write. Maybe about 3 months. The final book has 17 stories, and we culled it down from the 50 plus that I had. Right now, I have about 300 pieces written and numerous other unfinished pieces.

JP: What’s next for Dean Jéan-Pierre?

DJP: I have a few other projects out now. Woman Worship, Moist and Insatiable (all available on Kindle). Also an erotica spoken word CD, Aural Sex. Next is another collection of erotica Cum For Me then hopefully two Ebooks, Insatiable 2 and Killing Club of Ex-Girlfriends.

Then I will pivot to some non-erotica material. A novel Life After Love and some non-erotica shorts and Woman Worship 2. Gotta mix it up. We are on the ground floor of something I believe will be very special. I have a lot of surprises coming. An actor can take on many different roles to stretch the craft. A writer should afford himself the same luxury and deliver on it.

I want to thank all the folks on Facebook and other sites who support what I write. If no one buys or reviews what you write, then you’re just sitting in your room like a crazy person writing down words that make sense only to you.

I know we are also in the Ebook generation, but please buy a book once in a while. Go to a local bookstore. As a writer, Ebook allows me a wider audience. As a reader, I am deeply conflicted–so let me go write something about that.
