Rayne Smith had it all, handsome husband, beautiful children, successful career, and tons of material items. Along with those things Rayne also had secrets that she fought to keep hidden. Throughout this action-packed series, Rayne learned that skeletons didn’t always remain in the closet, and karma always came with a vengeance.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write When It Raynes: An Erotic Suspense Trilogy?

J. Asmara: The inspiration to write When It Raynes came from a conversation I had with an ex-boyfriend. He challenged me to write a story for him, and I came up with a scene that is in When It Raynes. He loved it and asked for more of the story.

While I was writing his second installment, a light bulb went off. I decided to expand on the story bringing a complete story line with twists and turns. Next thing I knew, the sexy scene that started as a  Valentine’s Day present grew to a three-part series.

JP: What sets When It Raynes apart from other books in the same genre?

JA: I think my unique perspective sets When It Raynes apart from some of the other books. So many of the books out now are the same story with a different cover and different names for the characters. I set out to bring stories that are relatable, unpredictable, and easy to read.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that lead to When It Raynes getting out to the public?

JA: I feel that staying true to yourself, being approachable, and being confident in your work are important when getting your work out to the public.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish When It Raynes?

JA: My writing process involves an intimate setting of candles or incents burning, tea, and music. A relaxed atmosphere helps my creative juices flow. As far as the time it takes to finish a book, it really depends on what else is going on in my life. It has taken me from a month to eight months to finish a book.

JP: What’s next for J. Asmara?

JA: Working on being a household name. I want to reach the masses with my talent.
