Kathleen Smith, author of Marriages & Miscarriages: One Woman’s Personal Experience
(Self-Published)

My book is about how I got through my three miscarriages, how I used them to make my marriage stronger and how I used them to strengthen my relationship with God. It’s my own personal story, and it’s like sitting down and having a conversation with me.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Marriages & Miscarriages: One Woman’s Personal Experience?

Kathleen Smith: I had been wanting to write my book for a couple of years after my third miscarriage but felt like it wasn’t something I could do on my own. It wasn’t till I was able to help someone else out with their miscarriage that I realized writing my book was something that I needed to do and wanted to do.

JP: What sets Marriages & Miscarriages: One Woman’s Personal Experience apart from other books in the same genre?

KS: It’s a personal story of what I really experienced. It’s not an advice type book or a self-help type book.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Marriages & Miscarriages: One Woman’s Personal Experience getting out to the public?

KS: Persistence and the support of those close to me.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Marriages & Miscarriages: One Woman’s Personal Experience?

KS: It took me one year from start to finish to write, rewrite, gather my thoughts, put them into the right words and last but not least get through all the emotions that go along with remembering how I felt with my three miscarriages. Once the manuscript was ready, I had to go through the process of reviewing the cover, layout, choosing supportive images for the chapter heading. Finally, I had my book available for sale!

JP: What’s next for Kathleen Smith?

KS: I would love to be able to do interviews and speaking engagements on the topic of miscarriage and how I got through my own miscarriages. I also think I can be of some help to other women who are going through the same grieving process. At the end of my book, I provide my e-mail address for readers to contact me. I have already heard from people across the world and have been blessed to be able to help them.
