5 Minutes, 5 Questions With…
M. Ann Ricks, author of THE BLOOD DONE SIGNED MY NAME
(May House Press and Publications)
Are the sins of the father and mother visited upon their sons and daughters? Undoubtedly damaged, Honey Lamb is a descendant of an unfortunate legacy of molestation, addiction, murder and bad decisions. She believed the unhappiness she experienced was somehow bequeathed.
Experiencing more than her share of misery, Honey makes a decision that may have ruined her life. Not realizing God places people in our lives, she embarks upon a journey that will open her heart to a divine inheritance. Will she accept the invitation of salvation or allow her carnal legacy to continue to the next generation? Will she come to understand that Jesus’ blood redeemed us from a self-defeating existence because He became the sinful inheritance for us while at the same time eradicating it forever, giving us a spiritual blood transfusion that would change us all? Either way she will never be the same!
Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write THE BLOOD DONE SIGNED MY NAME?
M. Ann Ricks: Because of a checkered past, a destructive familial history or bad choices, many have decided to live a life of regret and fear; resolving that their fate is irreversible. Regardless of who you are, whatever you’ve done or whatever your family has done to you, the blood of Jesus can make you a new creature because of its power.
Many are living defeated lives, unaware that freedom and life in abundance is available. This novel communicates and confirms that no longer does one need to label themselves as “unlovable”, “unworthy”, a “recovering” alcoholic, “drug addict” or even an inevitable beneficiary of the many generational tendencies and sicknesses that may be passed on from one generation to another.
Christ has absolved all who believe in Him because His blood has erased every sinful stain.
JP: What sets THE BLOOD DONE SIGNED MY NAME apart from other books in the same genre?
M.A.R.: There isn’t a Christian Fiction novel in the marketplace presently that specifically discusses the healing and delivering power of the blood of Jesus. Oddly enough, the body of Christ today doesn’t seem to dialogue about its significance.
Many are writing about the importance of forgiveness and the wonderful love of Jesus, but no author has fictionally penned a novel that clearly identifies what Jesus did when he died for us. How He became the sacrifice and the curse for us! This novel makes the significance of His blood truly comprehensible to even the lay person.
THE BLOOD DONE SIGNED MY NAME is the first of its kind because it not only shares a story but it provides the liberating truth scripturally.
JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to THE BLOOD DONE SIGNED MY NAME getting out to the public?
M.A.R.: I must follow the leading of the Holy Spirit when writing because we can only write about what He knows, what people desire and what people needs to hear! We must touch people and that’s His specialty!
I have learned to surround myself with people who want me to succeed. They aid me with their prayers and thus getting doors opened for my novels to get out to the masses.
Connect, believe and TRUST GOD! He promises to send me people for my life and my success in Him!
JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish THE BLOOD DONE SIGNED MY NAME?
M.A.R.: My writing process with THE BLOOD DONE SIGNED MY NAME was LISTEN and WRITE…. and then REWRITE… and STUDY and then WRITE some more…
The novel took about 8 months to write and another 4-6 months to get complete. It was a challenge and a blessing rolled up in one!
JP: What’s next for M. Ann Ricks?
M.A.R.: I’m starting to work on my 4th book, Power In the Praise as I begin the first leg of THE BLOOD DONE SIGNED MY NAME book tour.
