THEY SAY AFTER PAIN COMES JOY…

After years of hurt and failed relationships, what if the person that once made you the happiest reappeared in your life? But what if the timing was all wrong?

ROYCE TYLER IS FINALLY PUTTING HIS LIFE BACK TOGETHER

Over the past year, a series of horrific tragedies sent him spiraling into an unconsolable state of depression and turmoil. The last thing on his mind is chasing after love…

ENTER PAULA DANIELS, HIS COLLEGE ROMANCE

She’s a high-maintenance stylish lady with a knack for breaking men’s hearts. Her life consisits of pampered luxury and being spoiled by men of distinction. Her list of suitors includes some of the most well known figures in the sports world. Royce would jumop for a second chance with her.

ONE PROBLEM…HE’S HOMELESS

For the past few months, he’s been living in his car. Even if he could conceal the truth long enough to get back on his feet, he’d have to compete with men of great financial means for her affection. The lure of the glamorous life seductively calls out to Paula. Her social interactions lead to an agonizing pain, so excrutiating, it could overwhelm them both.

WHAT WOULD YOU CHOOSE, LUXURY OR LOVE?

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Champagne, Jellybeans, and Chocolate?

RL Taylor: I took a look around at the state of the economy and put a twist on the story dealing with the main character. There are a lot of people going through tough times right now, but what happens when you meet that special someone? I figured it would be interesting to explain the dynamics between a succesful woman and a man that is in the midst of coming up in the world.

JP: What sets Champagne, Jellybeans, and Chocolate apart from other books in the same genre?

RL: My book has been described as sophisticated and classy. It deals with the lives of African-Americans in a dignified way. We aren’t all thugs or strippers. I tried to make the characters relatable to people we know. Educated, smart, intelligent brothers and sisters that are still down to earth and real.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Champagne, Jellybeans, and Chocolate getting out to the public?

RL: I depend a lot on word of mouth advertising. I also try to reach out to quality reviewers like yourself. My philosophy is if you put out quality work it will pay off in the end.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Champagne, Jellybeans, and Chocolate?

RL: My process is old school. I have a notebook. I take it everywhere. I’m writing, jotting notes, etc. all day long. from there I hit the computer and type, revising as I go. I read it all again, then go back and make the appropriate tweaks. All in all, it takes close to a year. I don’t want to rush. I take my time in everything I do and do it right.

JP: What’s next for RL Taylor?

RL: More books of course. I have 3 other books already released that I’m sure you’ll enjoy. In fact, the follow-up to this book just came out. I have 3 new books on deck to be released over the next few years.I plan on staying with this for life. I’m enjoying writing way too much to stop.

  1. It’s refreshing to hear of a book that writes and develops characters from the normal stereotypes.

  2. Yes, RL is the future of literature in that he bends the boundaries of what has been done and what is possible.

Thank you for your commment, Ivin.
