5 Minutes, 5 Questions With…
Tremayne Johnson, author of The Union
(SBR Publications)

The Union is the mysterious, street, love story of Mox Daniels and Priscilla Davis. As a child, Mox and his younger brother Casey are awaken in the middle of the night to find both their parents brutally murdered. The killer is unknown, and the only people who know the truth are afraid to tell it.

At any cost, Mox wants retribution and nothing or no-one can come between it. He seeks out his parents’ killer, but along the way, life’s obstacles force a deterrent in his plans. Will he stay focused or will he fall victim?

Let no one stand before we! The Union.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write The Union?

Tremayne Johnson: I wanted to pen a street, love story with a mysterious twist to it, so I created these two characters, Mox & Priscilla. My inspiration for every story I write is the streets. Things done either first hand, word-of-mouth or seen through my own eyes. At the same time, I want to entertain my readers, so I let my imagination wander. Basically, life inspires my stories.

JP: What sets The Union apart from other books in the same genre?

TJ: It’s not only urban fiction. It’s love, romance and mystery all mixed into a book that in the end, does have a message. It’s very realistic and relatable.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to The Union getting out to the public?

TJ: Promotion and marketing like the majors do! Only after you pen a great story. Regardless of the machine behind the project, if the product is mediocre, your results will follow suit.

Another thing is interaction with the readers via social networks. This is something that has worked out great for me.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish The Union?

TJ: My writing process would be to have my mind in the right place first and foremost. Everything else flows from that. All I need is my laptop and a few accessories. LOL

Well, after I wrote and published my second book KING, I took a few months to sit back and watch the game go digital. During that time, I connected with another author by the name of David Weaver. We spoke and had plans on doing a deal in the near future.

When everything came together, I signed a deal with SBR Publications and started on The Union immediately. In all, it took me two months to write it.

JP: What’s next for Tremayne Johnson?

TJ: We’re going to put The Union 2 out in August, 2012, and then on Thanksgiving Day Nov, 2012, I’m dropping KING 2: Heir To The Throne.
