5 Minutes, 5 Questions With…
Loretta R. Walls, author of Rendezvous
(Nu Cherte Publishing)

Rendezvous: appointment or meeting place.

For Menchyon Martinez, it was the perfect name to build a perfume company upon. As the CEO of Rendezvous, his moves should never be questioned…or should they?

Paris, France, sent Nieva Claiborne to Summer Springs and straight into the arms of the man who wanted her heart. Would Menchyon’s lust get the best of him as she’d be within his reach?

Francisco Kidd was a master playa and made no bones about his status. Until Nieva joined the Rendezvous family, he was comfortable in his skin…

Can the employees of Rendezvous Industries keep it together to launch the biggest perfume project of their careers?

No day is ordinary when one decides to… Rendezvous.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Rendezvous?

Loretta R. Walls: Rendezvous was inspired by the daily drama I’ve endured in the workplace and what others have experienced. It was written with the top floor in mind, keeping their perspectives in play throughout the entire novel.

It was time for someone to speak out on a different level. That someone just happened to be me.

JP: What sets Rendezvous apart from other books in the same genre?

LRW: I write what I consider “Original Urban Romance” based on the concept that my thoughts are original, the settings are usually of an urban environment and there’s plenty of romance going on.

The wooing of characters, setbacks, drama moments, disappointments and shortcomings are what make Rendezvous a standout amongst the novels on the market today.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Rendezvous getting out to the public?

LRW: Meeting people directly is the number one key of all. You must be in the public eye, willing to shake hands, make a friend. It’s common for me to overhear a conversation in the grocery store about a book and I go introduce myself.

How else will one know who I am? Not everyone is an online fanatic willing to browse the web and learn about me.

Building strong connections with reputable book clubs is another avenue that has worked in my favor. One has to reach out but be professional when doing so.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Rendezvous?

LRW: When I write, I have to begin with an outline. There is no functioning without one. Since I publish myself, I usually allow a year to write the novel.

With other projects on the table, that timeline has to be managed very closely. I wrote Rendezvous over the course of a year. Quality always comes first. Speed will never outshine quality on any day. Ever.

JP: What’s next for Loretta R. Walls?

LRW: Up next is the pending release of Rendezvous 2: Nieva’s Dilemma, spurned by the success of Rendezvous. Also, I will be penning erotica under the name Embue (French for steamy) for the SK MINIS imprint with Samara King, due out this fall.

Other than that, working my authors and preparing to sign more novels than ever before.
