The book is about honor and loyalty among five men who lived life on the opposite side of the law.

Asad and Ahmed Sparks are two unassuming assassins. They go around the country handling problems for a powerful friend. When the two stumble onto a score of a lifetime in Miami, their younger cousin, Fly Ty, introduces them to Ducci and Young Curtis, two brazen bank robbers who he grew up with.

Once the four men bonded, they started planning for the multi-million dollar heist in Miami. Fly Ty, who’s a major figure in his city’s illicit drug trade, has caught the attention of some shady and dangerous people. While his cousins and close friends prepare for the job in Miami, people in the city are plotting against him.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Take Money?

Tony Moda: I took a writing course in college, and my instructor thought that my short stories were good. From that encouragement, I decided to write a novel about the different interesting people I’ve come across in my life.

JP: What sets Take Money apart from other books in the same genre?

TM: The story, characters and detailed writing is what sets this book apart from others. I’ve never read a book with characters as unique as Asad and Ahmed Sparks.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Take Money getting out to the public?

TM: From letting numerous people read the rough draft of the story, I kept getting the same response “You should get this published. This is a great book.” After being rejected by numerous companies, I decided to self publish the novel.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Take Money?

TM: I’ll come up with a basis for a story and just start writing. I never plan a story out like a conventional author. Wherever my mind leads me, that’s where I go. From start to finish, it took me six months to complete Take Money.

JP: What’s next for Tony Moda?

TM: I have the follow-up to Take Money coming out in October titled The Family Sparks. I look forward to continue writing stories people like.
