JoeyPinkney.com Exclusive Interview
5 Minutes, 5 Questions With…
Leon Puissegur, author of The Oil Man
(Savant Books)
In The Oil Man, avid conspiracy theorist John Marx is a supervisor on an oil derrick in the Gulf of Mexico. He comes into possession of an errant email and box containing a mysterious crystal shard. Those two items together change first his perspective, then the world’s point-of-view, about oil.
It does not come down to who controls the world’s petroleum supply. It comes down to whom people, corporations and governments think control it. Tempers explode, guns flare, people die, all due to an email and a piece of crystal.
Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write The Oil Man?
Leon Puissegur: Inspiration came from recent events with the oil situation world-wide along with personal knowledge from actually working offshore in Louisiana. I also found information about the real theory of “Abiotic Oil” and used that as the basis for all that goes on in this Action/Adventure book.
JP: What sets The Oil Man apart from other books in the same genre?
LP: This book deals with oil, of which our nation and the world need so very much to sustain our very lives. Few, if any, books work actual events together to bring forth a fictional account of todays greed for power and the need associated with the oil.
JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to The Oil Man getting out to the public?
LP: I have found that using the electronic media it takes a lot of time to get a book out to the public when a person is limited by funding and ways in which to promote a new book.
I have used almost any media I can find on the internet that is either free or very cheap. I am a Disabled Vietnam Veteran and do not have unlimited resources to get this book out there.
JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish The Oil Man?
LP: When I first started this book, it was going to be a book dealing with facts about oil and global warming. It morphed into an Action/Adventure. That took me about four weeks to write then almost six months to go through a very good edit to make it the best work I could possibly create.
JP: What’s next for Leon Puissegur?
LP: I am going to write a sequel to The Oil Man, but have not yet come up with a fitting title. I have begun writing the sequel and expect to be done with the first draft around April and hopefully have it ready for publication around November.

I do have a few other books in line to write. I sit down and write the beginnings and come back to them every now and then until I am ready to finish them. For now, I am concentrating on the sequel to The Oil Man.
