5 Minutes, 5 Questions With…
Sterling Anderson, author of Does He Cheat
(Sterling Dart Productions)

A man was asked, “Why do you cheat on your wife?” His answer was, “Because I can.” Another man was asked, “Who do you cheat with?” His answer was, “Whoever sits in my lap.”

Does He Cheat? is a nonfictional book that takes a peek behind the curtain of lies men tell and women choose to ignore. Hundreds of men were asked, “If your girlfriend or wife paid the least amount of attention to a sign that you are cheating, what would that sign be?”

When the men were promised total anonymity, they began to regale us with shocking answers to this question. These men lift the veil and shine a flashlight on the signs their wives, partners, and girlfriends continue to ignore.

If you are a woman who wants to stop ignoring the signs your man is showing that say something might be amiss in your relationship, read Does He Cheat?

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Does He Cheat?

Sterling Anderson: Honestly, my inspiration probably came from guilt. I’m a recovering cheater.

JP: What sets Does He Cheat apart from other books in the same genre?

SA: This book included true confessions from hundreds of real men. It’s not just based on assumption. These are factual stories of things that have happened.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Does He Cheat getting out to the public?

SA: Finding a book publicist – first a very bad one, and then a very good one. You have to be willing to spend time promoting your book. It’s an uphill battle but worth the fight!

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Does He Cheat?

SA: Does He Cheat? was a book in progress for more than eight years. The final product is a collection of notes from a journal, and then a joint effort with my talented co-author, Stephanie Dart, who brought a fresh female perspective.

JP: What’s next for Sterling Anderson?

SA: I’m a screenwriter, so I’m going to write the movie version of Does He Cheat? Then maybe I’ll do some community service with other men — talk about cheating, why we do it, what the repercussions are. Hope to make a difference!
