Breonna Morris thought her marriage to Tyler was perfect. Never mind all the hours she spent at work. Never mind the time she wasted shopping and partying with her best friend, Courtney. Never mind being a wife. She was living the married life as a single woman, while Tyler slowly drifted away.

Breonna’s world turns upside down when she wakes up one morning to find that Tyler is gone. Desperate to find meaning in his disappearance, she reaches out to him. Tyler makes it very clear that he wants nothing else to do with her, that he’s tired of being a single, married man. He’s moved on. Breonna is devastated, realizing that not only is she suddenly husbandless, but she’s also pregnant.

Courtney gives her a crazy idea to put an ad in the local paper to search for a father figure for her baby. Breonna follows through with the idea and is excited with the responses she receives. She even conducts interviews with the most qualified candidates. One in particular catches her eye, Vaughn Ramos – a sexy, tall Puerto-Rican papi who wants to play daddy in more ways than one. There’s only one problem – Tyler doesn’t know that she’s pregnant.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write The Baby Daddy Interviews?

Tina Martin: I wrote the book mainly because I wanted to do something that had never been done before (well, not in this manner). One day, I was brainstorming and came up with the idea of a woman looking for a ‘father figure’ for her child. How would she find one? Interviews!

It also spotlights the need for fathers to be in the lives of their children. The statistics don’t lie for fatherless children. Men need to step up and be fathers to their children.

JP: What sets The Baby Daddy Interviews apart from other books in the same genre?

TM: My novel is romance, suspense… It’s funny and very entertaining. When you read the book, you will NOT know what will happen next or how it will end. I promise.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to The Baby Daddy Interviews getting out to the public?

TM: I love writing, so even at times when I do not feel like writing, I do it anyway. I’m very passionate about my work. I’m a firm believer that if you do not love what you do, then you will not be successful at it.

I’m also active in the arts district of my community.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish The Baby Daddy Interviews?

TM: I create an outline. Even if I do not know how the story will end (because I usually never do in the beginning) I use an outline to lay out each chapter of the book.

Though I have a laptop, I also have an electronic writing pad that converts what I write to a Microsoft Word document. Sometimes I feel that if I actually have a pen in my hand while I’m writing, it helps my ideas flow better.

It took six months to write The Baby Daddy Interviews from start to finish. I spent an additional two months editing.

JP: What’s next for Tina Martin?

TM: Currently, I’m working on a heart-wrenching novel that spotlights a homeless woman living in a big city. Homelessness is a huge problem in the world today, and I would like to see more people getting the help they need. If I can bring some awareness to the problem, even through fiction novel writing, then maybe that will help someone.
