5 Minutes, 5 Questions With…
LaMont Wright, author of Poet’s Pursuit of Pleasure: Book 2
(Graffiti Bleu)
Book 2 of the Poet’s Pursuit of Pleasure series follows the continuing romance between Amber Love Smith, a Bi-sexual Psychologist with a hunger for excitement, and Athone “Graffiti” Bleu, a biker boy and the number 2 man of a biker gang in transition.
Their polygamous relationship and street hustle lifestyles become strained when a biker war, a relentless hitman and marriage become the issues of the day. The pain they face brings out the competitive or “rivalry” stage that is inherent in all relationships of all people.
A life lived to its fullest…
Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Poet’s Pursuit of Pleasure: Book 2?
LaMont Wright: Many books are amazing. However, most either don’t push they envelope on topics that are taboo or they are great in only one area, ie. description, depth of character, suspenseful and so on.
JP: What sets Poet’s Pursuit of Pleasure: Book 2 apart from other books in the same genre?
LW: I took my time with this one, like I always do. This book which is written like a feature-length poem and is great in all the forementioned areas. It sucks you in from the first page and refuses to let you go till the last.
JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Poet’s Pursuit of Pleasure: Book 2 getting out to the public?
LW: Persistence and joy. The road to writing a good book can be long and grueling. To complete a body of work that you are proud of, and have people catch on to your vision takes persistent work.
The way to stay persistent and not become discouraged when things become difficult is to maintain joy in your artistic expression. If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life.
JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Poet’s Pursuit of Pleasure: Book 2?
LW: It took me eighteen months to complete “Intimate Rivalz”. I meditate on all of the life lessons I have learned and think about how I want to personify them through story. Then I outline the book with story boards.
The outline and story boards are always vague with a core theme because the characters always dictate the direction. Then I find a quiet place, play jazz low and dig in.
JP: What’s next for LaMont Wright?
LW: The release and book signing event for this book. (Intimate Rivalz) http://www.gbleu.com/News_Letter.html and the release of 2 more books this year: Simony Chiavary 2.5 http://www.gbleu.com/Simony_Chiavary.html and a photography book that
I am narrating for Femi Watson of Creative Passions Photography & Print, LLC.
If you live anywhere in Atlanta or close to it, you do not want to miss the book signing event for this release on Saturday, April 21, 2012.
