5 Minutes, 5 Questions With…
A. Shane Etter, author of Bottom Dwellers
(Black Rose Writing)
“Bottom Dwellers” is a supernatural thriller about green mutant people with gills living on the bottom of one of the largest man-made lakes in North Georgia in the USA.
Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write “Bottom Dwellers”?
A. Shane Etter: I got inspiration to write “Bottom Dwellers” from reading an article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution about houses on the bottom of Lake Lanier near Gainesville, GA.
JP: What sets “Bottom Dwellers” apart from other books in the same genre?
ASE: “Bottom Dwellers” is also a love story between a man, scuba diving in the lake where he meets the mutants, and a beautiful park ranger who works at the lake.
JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to “Bottom Dwellers” getting out to the public?
ASE: The keys to my success are persistence and reaching out to the healthy writing community in Atlanta for knowledge.
JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish “Bottom Dwellers”?
ASE: From start to finish, it took me just over a year to complete “Bottom Dwellers”. I wrote nearly everyday.
JP: What’s next for A. Shane Etter?
ASE: “Mind Dwellers”, the second in a series of Dwellers books. My protagonists will be battling a worldwide mutant community. I hope the series will be similar to F. Paul Wilson’s “Repairman Jack” books.
