Madison wanted more than anything to be beautiful. Meeting a tall, handsome stranger was the answer to her prayers. Was the stranger’s sudden interest a ploy to steal her valuable research? Or did he really love her? She must discover the truth.
Will Madison survive or lose herself and everything she has worked for? Find the answers wrapped around suspense, drama and romance in Beautiful – author Sylvia Hubbard’s 40th Novel.
Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Beautiful?
Sylvia Hubbard: I’m always thinking about different What If scenarios and combining those with faults. I make a story stew in my head, brewing all of the What Ifs and the faults together until the story burns.
There was a moment when I was in high school, this old, large Lincoln car pulled up behind me while I was walking, and there was a guy inside. I kept the Lincoln in my peripheral, but I never turned around and looked at it directly. Several times the man said, “Pssst! Hey Beautiful!”
I didn’t turn around. That moment haunted me. What if I had? Who was he? Why me? I explore that fantasy in Beautiful.
JP: What sets Beautiful apart from other books in the same genre?
SH: In Beautiful, I wove suspense, romance and drama together like a tight braid. One couldn’t be there without the other. Sometimes, I found myself gripping the pages as the story unfolded.
My stories are mixed with cliffhangers, sensuality and very real to life characters. My readers have told me that they can’t find the kind of stores I write anywhere else.
JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Beautiful getting out to the public?
SH: Diligence. A lot of hard work and sleepless nights. I’m always coming up with ways to push my book out there. I like to entertain, and I want to be a resource to my readers and other writers.
JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Beautiful?
SH: Beautiful took me five months to write. It’s over 100,000 words, and I tried to write a scene a day. I wrote wherever I can got a moment.
I’m very busy as an author, the founder of a literary organization and a single mom of three. I have to peel away a few minutes everyday to get words down on paper as fast as possible.
JP: What’s next for Sylvia Hubbard?
SH: I’m finishing The Murderer’s Lover. It will be available to be read exclusively on my website. I’m also finishing up The Trouble with Gabrielle – which will be another book exclusively available on my website. I thank my fans and readers for really sticking by me and encouraging me all these years.
