Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write To Whom Much is Given: A Grayson Goodman Novel?

Yanatha Desouvre: That’s a great question. There are two things that inspired me to write my debut novel, To Whom Much is Given. First, after completing my most recent creative book Savor the Moments: Inspired by True Stories, my biggest supporters challenged me to write a novel based off the character Grayson Goodman. I was scared, nervous, and excited all at the same time but I did it. Second, I was inspired by a tragic event in my family. Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write The Darkside Trilogy?

William Hayashi: I wanted to write a story about the kinds of Black people I grew up with; educated, middle and upper middle class, with mostly two-parent households; the kind of Blacks that don’t exist in today’s American culture. Russell A. Mebane: The Doll: Frustration with technology
The God: Frustration with theological issues
The House: Insects in my house
The Shoveler and the Day: Free-form brainstorming in an attempt to be random and a little anime
The Conqueror: Anime with samurai duels
The Fairy: a valid attempt to see how dark I could get and still make sense
The Vegan: sitting through one too many cop shows
