“Pounding The Pavement” is a story of redemption. The story follows a young woman, Kandi, on her quest to overcome the hurt that has plagued her heart after being forced into prostitution at a very young and tender age. The story is being told by Kandi as a grown woman, years after the events have transpired of the horrible childhood she experienced.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write “Pounding The Pavement”?

Nisha Lanae: My inspiration for “Pounding The Pavement” came from everyday life and what I saw growing up in California. I was also inspired by a few close friends who have experienced life on the streets as a prostitute.  Continue reading 5 Minutes, 5 Questions With… Nisha Lanae, author of Pounding The Pavement

Seth Rogan was a shitty spy. Actually, he wasn’t a spy at all. Just a guy trying to do the right thing.

As a biologist for the largest biotech company in the world, he had a great job, and thoroughly enjoyed all the perks. But when asked to do some tests on the company’s genetically engineered foods, he became entangled in a trail of corruption and fraud that he wanted no part of, but could not escape from.

In a story so true to life it could almost be from today’s newspapers, Seth, having bit the hand who fed him, is on the run from them, and the full overreaching strength of the United States government as a fugitive, who finds temporary refuge with an old enemy of the U.S. But his peace is about to be broken as he finds himself in the role of an involuntary spy.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write “An Involuntary Spy: A GMO Thriller”?

Kenneth Eade: While writing the best selling non-fiction book, “Bless the Bees”, I did a lot of research on the hidden dangers of genetically engineered foods. I was disgusted by the way the government agencies like the FDA and EPA were controlled by ex-executives from Monsanto and the fact that Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) foods undergo no safety testing by the government. “K-Rho: The Sweet Taste of Sisterhood” chronicles the strength of sorority life for three Copper Road University sophomores. Track star Kiara Michaels didn’t expect to find two lifelong friends at her sorority membership interview. But life had other plans, leading her to meet Donna—a Bible quoting straight talker—and Gloria—a loquacious high achiever.

In the semesters following membership induction, Kiara confesses a festering secret, Donna steers a bumpy course with her unfaithful boyfriend, and Gloria can’t find a love match. When a lustful encounter and brutal assault turn Kiara’s collegiate experience upside down, the two friends are her saving grace.

Fast-forward ten years later and Kiara can’t balance life’s increasing responsibilities, Donna has departed a broken marriage, and Gloria can’t reconcile feelings of attraction for a close friend.

The book’s message is about the power of sorority sisterhood helping to deal with life’s situations, good and bad.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write “K-Rho: The Sweet Taste of Sisterhood”?

La Toya Hankins: I was inspired to write “K-Rho: The Sweet Taste of Sisterhood” because I didn’t see a piece of fiction that addressed the strength of sisterhood among African American sorority members. I believe sorority memberships have helped thousands of women overcome life’s difficulties and sparked life-long friendships.
