As we carry on in our everyday lives, could it be that just below the surface lies the undercurrents of another world? A place where there’s a constant rift, struggle, some might say fight, for our very souls?

In this world that so many of us speak of in the quiet of the night, angels roam. But for every angel of God, there are the darkest of demons to counter them; herein lies the fight.

A Vision of Angels is a story that gives a different perspective on true events that transpired one cold, dark night. In trying to make sense of the supernatural, we typically view things from our own real realm, through the lenses of our real world.  In this story, the intent is to take the inverse of that, have the supernatural as the looking-glass.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write A Vision of Angels?

Alexandra Lane: This story is in response to so many people saying “I was so lucky” after they had survived a near-death incident.  I just wanted to shout out to the world, “It was not luck!”

So with my words, I wanted to paint a picture of what happens behind the scenes of a “miracle.” So I thought about a person in our history who’s life exemplified divine intervention, and that’s where I drew my inspiration to write this story.

JP: What sets A Vision of Angels apart from other books in the same genre?

AL: I believe it’s due to the fact that the story is actually based on a real person in our history. Even though the story itself is fictional, it really takes the reader on a journey that shows how the supernatural world often permeates our real world. It sheds light on what we often call luck.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to A Vision of Angels getting out to the public?

AL: Not letting the fear of what people might think stop me from writing the story. When you’re passionate about something, and it weighs upon your heart and won’t let go, go with it.

It’s put there for a reason and even though we may not understand, go with it. That passion or conviction that you feel will translate in your story.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish A Vision of Angels?

AL: To tell a story that will penetrate into the mind of the reader and make them think.  To make the reader feel the words.  I asked myself a question one day, “What do angels look like behind the scenes of our lives?” It took me 2.5 years to answer it in this story. The most wonderful experience a writer can go through.

JP: What’s next for Alexandra Lane?

AL:  I’m working on my next book, not yet titled.
