3 of 5 Stars

Bob Cravener’s Chronicles of Silvercrest is a great read for people who indulge the worlds of Dungeons & Dragons and similar games. From the authentic behaviors of the various races of elves, humans and zombie minions to the various fighting strategies and uses of magic spells, potions and weapons, Silvercrest will immerse the reader in a world that’s equal parts reality and fantasy.

As a man, only known as “The Traveller”, steps into Broken Keg Tanvern, the villages surrounding Weeping Pines are slowly besieged by the armies gathered together by a king who died 750 prior. King Deng is one of the most repugnant rulers the mountainous area known as Silvercrest has even seen – and that’s saying a lot! After The Traveller shared with Broken Keg Tavern’s bartender Eldridge Kragon over a much-needed mug of ale, Chronicles of Silvercrest unfolds through a diverse group of locales and their various inhabitants.

Eldridge is more than just a simple bartender, he is also known as the Continue reading Book Review: Chronicles of Silvercrest by Bob Cravener

Visualize the vignettes from a man with a mind for the sensual. Chris Mainor’s XXXPleasures: Seductive Bliss is a book full of scenarios where sex and seduction are the two main ingredients. If this book was a movie, the first three letters of the book’s title lets you know which rating it would be given by the Motion Picture Association of America.

XXXPleasures: Seductive Bliss’ cover sets the tone appropriately – a naked couple locked in a passionate embrace. That lets you know what you are in for before embarking on the book’s journey. And just to keep that visual motif rolling, more sensual pictures that rev the imagination are interspersed between the chapters.

Before reading this book, you need to grab a few items: an oscillating fan, a Continue reading JoeyPinkney.com Book Review: XXXPleasures: Seductive Bliss by Chris Mainor

The Pride
by Faydra D. Fields
5 of 5 Stars

The Pride, Faydra D. Fields’ debut novel, is unconventional in concept, yet impeccable in its approach to an interesting conundrum: a single Black man with ten children by four different women. Sounds like it’s going to be high in low-brow drama, right? Wrong!

Taking a scenario that could quite well be a train wreck befitting a full episode of the Jerry Springer Show, Fields takes The Pride in a decidedly literary direction. Instead of making a mockery of the situation, as is popular in today’s society, the author orchestrates a blended family which slowly becomes singular in purpose and remains varied in personalities and perspectives – like a real family.
