5 Minutes, 5 Questions With… Prina Jackson of ZyeCha, Inc.

JoeyPinkney.com Exclusive Interview
5 Minutes, 5 Questions With…
Prina Jackson
(ZyeCha, Inc.)

Joey Pinkney: Why is it important to have a great PR person?

Prina Jackson: Your public relations person is the most important person next to the manager. A bad PR person can make or break your career. The PR person tells the story. The PR person is supposed to make sure their client is represented right at all times.

Whatever story the client wants to be told needs to be relayed to the public so that it can be properly understood. The PR person is not afraid to stand up to the client or for the client. All of that falls on the PR person in the end.

There are a lot of people who carry that title, but very few actually know what really goes in it or what the title actually means. Anyone can take on the title “PR person”, but very few are successful.

JP: What sets your services apart from other professionals in the PR industry?

PJ: I think what sets me apart from other professionals in the public relations industry is that I am a one stop shop. We at ZyeCha Inc. can handle all your marketing, promotions and public relations needs at one place. We are passionate people when it come to people and business in general. I build my foundation off old fashion ways of life.

We believe in treating people the way you want to be treated. That alone will always set ZyeCha, Inc. apart from the massive professionals in the public relations industry. We have personal connections with all of our clients. If we take you on as a client, it’s more than just your money.

We care about your career and really want to help you reach your goals. We don’t take on clients we don’t believe in. We have to feel comfortable as well to even work your project.

JP: What role does social media networking play in the way that you do your job?

PJ: Social media networking plays an important role with public relations. With social media basically taking over, it is very important in not only my job but all entertainment and media. It’s easy for me to adapt because I am a people-person. I love meeting people and having a direct connection with them.

We are all one people. We are all alike. If I can touch someone’s life in the process by being introduced to them through my business, it’s such a great feeling. Once the campaign is over, that’s it. If I have left a lasting, changing impression then my job is done. This is what makes me feel self gratification for.

JP: What’s a typical week like? If no week is typical, then what was last week like?

PJ: Wow. Aww…get it, Mr. Pinkney! I love these questions. OK, now back to the question. Dang, that’s a good one.

First thing I have to say is that I am so blessed to work in the same company with all of my clients. A typical week for me is keeping up with the schedule of Founder/CEO of “Exclusive Fashion & Furs”, The Fur King. Being his PR & Director of Operations, “keeping up” is a must.

From the first time we met, I knew how hectic his schedule was. It is easy for me because I’m naturally a multi- tasker. I balance things pretty well once I get into the groove. Of coarse, working towards the process of launching ZyeCha, Inc. in Jan 2010. I also handle PR for The Fur King’s other company “Bosses That Meet Bosses” and his stylist Fallon Seaborn.

I am the publist for double-platinum producer “The Fabulous Moonshyne Brown”, and the former First Lady of Dipset, Jha Jha (both of Anti Robot Society). “The Landing” Mixtape Drops in 2010 as well as several joint ventures with my business manager Nisha Managment.

JP: What’s on the horizon for Prina Jackson?

PJ: Next for me. I am doing some PR work with an upcoming documentary entitled Kamikazes Deathography: 4 Teens, 5 Days, a Deathwish and a Video Camera by Linfahrenheit. I have some upcoming projects with Yum Yum Entertainment and Live On Air Radio Show “Return of The Boom Bap”. Nisha Management Radio is launching real soon.

I am also working with a friend of mine in Ghana named Le Maxque on his Anti Breast Caner Campaign: The Romantic Killer Of Ghana and Beyond. This is a monumental moment for us because this is the first time Africa has acknowledged breast cancer as a serious problem.

Le Maxque is actually getting help from Ghana’s government. We are now looking for help with funding the infared breast screening machines for the free breast cancer screening. We are looking to commission the first screening site in March 2010 in Ghana. (Le Maxque has the #1 tradional song in Ghana right now.)

For myself, I have so many dreams to accomplish and things I want to do. I am going to hopefully finish writting my book. You never know what I am going to do next. I love challenges and people saying no. I love taking risks. Most of all, I love seeing people successful. I am blessed, and I have to bless someone else. Thank you so much for this interview. I loved it.

5 Minutes, 5 Questions With… Maggbeatz, Bosses That Meet Bosses Group

JoeyPinkney.com Exclusive Interview
5 Minutes, 5 Questions With…
Maggbeatz AKA Maggmuzik
(Bosses That Meet Bosses Group)

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the name Maggbeatz? What does it mean?

Maggbeatz: I was searching through the dictionary one day trying to find a beat name that would fit me. I came across the word Magnum Opus which is a noun that means “a great work of art or literature”. That word matched the criteria of what I do. I named myself “Magnumopusbeatz” at first.

After a few months, I got tired of people telling me “It’s a hot meaning but too long of a name”. I shortened it to “Maggbeatz/Maggmuzik”. Some people think the obvious when they hear the name, either the gun or the car.

When I break it down and tell people what it means, they’re impressed. That name is something I’m proud of and live by! I don’t speak for my work, my work speaks for me!

JP: How would you describe your style of production? Who were your mentors?

Maggbeatz: My style of production is unorthodox. My goal is to create an independent sound. As for who my mentors were. I have two mentors. The first one would be my good friend Stefvon G. Facey. We made beats together from 2000 to 2004. He taught me a lot about making beats and the music game period. He’s still a great deal of help to this day. I always call on him when I have questions.

The other would be Polo AKA The Fur King. I’ve only known him for a short while, but he has took me to another level of this thing we call entertainment. They don’t build people like him anymore! I’m just blessed and grateful to have met Polo and to have him as a good friend.

JP: In a perfect situation, what gear would you gather together to make your dream studio?

Maggbeatz: I would have it set up just like the Quad Studio NYC. (Editor’s Note: Maggbeatz gave a detailed list of studio gear that was too long to fit in this interview.)

JP: Nowadays in HipHop, producers seem to have a good run for a few months, maybe years, and then fall off. What are you doing to make sure MaggBeatz will stay relevant in the game no matter the season?

Maggbeatz: That’s a good question! I have to keep making great music the best way I can, stay as humble as possible and try to keep good relationships with artists, radio and DJ personalities. Most importantly, I’ll just continue being myself. I can’t do any better than that.

Either you love me, or you hate me. At the end of the day, I can say, “I tried my best!”

JP: What does the future hold for MaggBeatz?

Maggbeatz: More magazines, TV, interviews and major artist/label music placements. Until then, I’m going to keep my “Grustle” @ 2000% and work with what I got!

5 Minutes, 5 Questions With… Prolific

JoeyPinkney.com Exclusive Interview
5 Minutes, 5 Questions With…
Prolific
(Bosses That Meet Bosses Group)

Joey Pinkney: Who is Prolific? Why did you choose this name to represent the group?

Prolific: Prolific is a music group made up of three members: Matty Norite, Filthy Rich and Ray Blast. We picked the name Prolific because we are involved in so many different aspects of the game from production, beats, fashion, events and parties. Plus, Rich is a show DJ. We get it in real big. You know Prolific.

JP: What does Prolific add to the game that it’s missing?

Prolific: Prolific brings real Hip Hop back to reality. People are just rapping and ain’t saying nothing. Please excuse my improper english, but it is what it is.

JP: What was the most interesting response from a fan that you can remember?

Prolific: Because two-thirds of Prolific is white, when we perfrom just before we get on stage you can see poeple who do not know us backs turn. The second we start playing that hateration turns into head knocking and the party begins. One DJ from Dive FM, Mr. D., said to me in an interview, “Yo Matty, who doesn’t like you?” I said, “Mr D., even my haters love me. Chea!”

JP: What is it going to take to get from where you are to the international status you hope to achieve?

Prolific: “Grussel”. It is a mix between hustling and grinding. You have to be determind because not everyone is going to feel you. That has to be the greatest task that we had to overcome.

When critics give you a bad review because your not the right skin color or you just had a bad day and did not showcase to your full ability, you have to be able to respond and knock ’em out the box in the second round. Bottom line, we have not yet once heard any bells ring, so Prolific keeps on fighting.

JP: What projects do you have coming out in the near future?

Prolific: We are currently working on Mr Keys’ album and mix tape, followed by a mix tape from Prolific and soon to come solo albums from Rich and myself, Matty Norite. We also are involved with Bosses That Meet Bosses Music Group. This is a joint venture with Polo The Fur King, who also manages us and produces our clothing line.

We are currently working with MaggBeatz and Billy Blass who are the top two beat makers and producers in the game. If you don’t know, get familiar.
