JoeyPinkney.com Exclusive Interview
5 Minutes, 5 Questions With…
Prina Jackson
(ZyeCha, Inc.)
Joey Pinkney: Why is it important to have a great PR person?
Prina Jackson: Your public relations person is the most important person next to the manager. A bad PR person can make or break your career. The PR person tells the story. The PR person is supposed to make sure their client is represented right at all times.
Whatever story the client wants to be told needs to be relayed to the public so that it can be properly understood. The PR person is not afraid to stand up to the client or for the client. All of that falls on the PR person in the end.
There are a lot of people who carry that title, but very few actually know what really goes in it or what the title actually means. Anyone can take on the title “PR person”, but very few are successful.
JP: What sets your services apart from other professionals in the PR industry?
PJ: I think what sets me apart from other professionals in the public relations industry is that I am a one stop shop. We at ZyeCha Inc. can handle all your marketing, promotions and public relations needs at one place. We are passionate people when it come to people and business in general. I build my foundation off old fashion ways of life.
We believe in treating people the way you want to be treated. That alone will always set ZyeCha, Inc. apart from the massive professionals in the public relations industry. We have personal connections with all of our clients. If we take you on as a client, it’s more than just your money.
We care about your career and really want to help you reach your goals. We don’t take on clients we don’t believe in. We have to feel comfortable as well to even work your project.
JP: What role does social media networking play in the way that you do your job?
PJ: Social media networking plays an important role with public relations. With social media basically taking over, it is very important in not only my job but all entertainment and media. It’s easy for me to adapt because I am a people-person. I love meeting people and having a direct connection with them.
We are all one people. We are all alike. If I can touch someone’s life in the process by being introduced to them through my business, it’s such a great feeling. Once the campaign is over, that’s it. If I have left a lasting, changing impression then my job is done. This is what makes me feel self gratification for.
JP: What’s a typical week like? If no week is typical, then what was last week like?
PJ: Wow. Aww…get it, Mr. Pinkney! I love these questions. OK, now back to the question. Dang, that’s a good one.
First thing I have to say is that I am so blessed to work in the same company with all of my clients. A typical week for me is keeping up with the schedule of Founder/CEO of “Exclusive Fashion & Furs”, The Fur King. Being his PR & Director of Operations, “keeping up” is a must.
From the first time we met, I knew how hectic his schedule was. It is easy for me because I’m naturally a multi- tasker. I balance things pretty well once I get into the groove. Of coarse, working towards the process of launching ZyeCha, Inc. in Jan 2010. I also handle PR for The Fur King’s other company “Bosses That Meet Bosses” and his stylist Fallon Seaborn.
I am the publist for double-platinum producer “The Fabulous Moonshyne Brown”, and the former First Lady of Dipset, Jha Jha (both of Anti Robot Society). “The Landing” Mixtape Drops in 2010 as well as several joint ventures with my business manager Nisha Managment.
JP: What’s on the horizon for Prina Jackson?
PJ: Next for me. I am doing some PR work with an upcoming documentary entitled Kamikazes Deathography: 4 Teens, 5 Days, a Deathwish and a Video Camera by Linfahrenheit. I have some upcoming projects with Yum Yum Entertainment and Live On Air Radio Show “Return of The Boom Bap”. Nisha Management Radio is launching real soon.
I am also working with a friend of mine in Ghana named Le Maxque on his Anti Breast Caner Campaign: The Romantic Killer Of Ghana and Beyond. This is a monumental moment for us because this is the first time Africa has acknowledged breast cancer as a serious problem.
Le Maxque is actually getting help from Ghana’s government. We are now looking for help with funding the infared breast screening machines for the free breast cancer screening. We are looking to commission the first screening site in March 2010 in Ghana. (Le Maxque has the #1 tradional song in Ghana right now.)
For myself, I have so many dreams to accomplish and things I want to do. I am going to hopefully finish writting my book. You never know what I am going to do next. I love challenges and people saying no. I love taking risks. Most of all, I love seeing people successful. I am blessed, and I have to bless someone else. Thank you so much for this interview. I loved it.
