Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the idea and inspiration to write Karma?

Saniya Solis: My idea and inspiration to write my first novel, Karma, is actually a little about experiences I’ve had with men. I just enhanced it with my imagination.

JP: What sets Karma apart from other novels in its genre?

SS: What sets Karma apart from other novels is that everyone will be able to relate to it in some shape or form. I paid very close attention in expressing the emotional battles that my characters goes through in order for the reader to really enjoy and be in sync with my characters. My goal with each of my novels is to have my readers relate so much to the book and the characters that they shake their head yes and say they would’ve done the same thing…

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that lead to Karma getting out to the public?

SS: As an author, the keys to my success that lead to Karma getting out to the public is a lot of networking and associating myself with people who are in the know about this literary game. This is my first novel, and I’m new to the literary industry. I still have a lot to learn. It’s real hard at times. but I believe in myself as well as my work. That’s what keeps me going. Bottom line: it’s all about networking!

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take for you to start and finish Karma?

SS: As an author, my writing process is basically me having to be in the right mood. My imagination and my emotions have to be in tune with one another. When I write, I ask myself what do I expect and/or want from a book I’m reading? I also keep a pen and pad on my table so whenever an idea comes to my mind I write it down. My mind moves so fast, I could be writing in chapter 1 and an idea for chapter 5 will pop in my head!

I started writing Karma in June of last year. I didn’t take it too seriously and stopped writing for two months until my mom told me people were asking me have I finished my book yet. I was surprised, and that motivated me to finish my book. Karma was completed in December of last year. So if you add the two months I was on hiatus, it took me about six months to finish my book.

JP: What’s next for Saniya Solis?

SS: What’s next for me is to continue writing and learn as much as I can about this industry. I’m currently working on my new book titled Turn 2 and have three more books lined up. I’m hoping to be in this “game” as long as my readers will let me…
