Project: Heartbeats And Elevation is not your regular collection of poetry. It is a celebration of Life, Love and Spirituality. Word after word, line after line, poem after poem, let your heart and soul commune with God…

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the idea and inspiration to write Project: Heartbeats and Elevation?

Cendrine Marrouat: God is my main inspiration in everything I do. I wanted to write about my belief in him and how it helps me to see Life and Death as a continuum of the same process.

I always pen my best poetry at night. But, before I can actually start writing anything, I need to find a title. Otherwise, inspiration will not come. So, one night, while finishing a poem, the title Project: Heartbeats and Elevation popped out without warning. I wrote it on a piece of paper and thought: “Wow! That would make an awesome poem!”

I set about writing something and, before I knew it, I had ten poems. They were short but powerful. The next day, I showed what I had done to a friend, and they were ecstatic: “You absolutely have to write a book. The message will give hope to many.” That is how the book was born…

JP: What sets Project: Heartbeats and Elevation apart from you other collection of poetry?

CM: When I wrote my other books, I was three years younger and in a different frame of mind. My belief in God was already strong, but not as strong as it is today. I have grown a lot since then.

As a translator, I love to translate what I write in French, my mother tongue. Sometimes, I do the same in English, with my French poems. I find this to be a very good exercise, as it forces me to detach myself from my work.

Hence, I can say that what sets Project: Heartbeats and Elevation apart from my other collections of poetry is the sense of joy and hope that emerges. I am confident that those who will read it will agree.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that lead to Project: Heartbeats and Elevation getting out to the public?

CM: God as a motivating force is the key to my success. I was given a wonderful gift through him: poetry. As such, monetary gain is of secondary importance. It is the reason why I chose self-publishing. Although this process takes time, patience and dedication, it also gives me enough freedom to go at my own pace and promote my books the way I want.

I just want people to see that Spirituality and God are not some vain words. They can actually help you to overcome the greatest hurdles and make you a better individual. If I can reach one person and have them realize that, then my job is done!

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take for you to start and finish Project: Heartbeats and Elevation?

CM: I do not write often. Sometimes, I will spend weeks without penning anything. And when I work on a poem, I like to take my time. I choose my words carefully, making sure that they reflect the person I am deep inside.

In the case of Project: Heartbeats and Elevation, I started sometime in the middle of 2008. Then, I took a long break and resumed work in February 2009. A month later, I had it proofread. In April, the book was ready for release… Voilà!

JP: What’s next for Cendrine Marrouat?

CM: I want to continue writing, of course. I plan on releasing my two plays in book format through Lulu or other means. Also, I have just started working on a poetry CD/DVD project.

My objective is to release it within a year. I have created three videos so far, and they can be watched here: http://www.youtube.com/soulpoetrysite. They are also downloadable for free on Itunes. Obviously, I need to improve their quality, but they are good examples of what the poetry CD/DVD will be about.

Tyrone Sanders, author of Does Family Really Matter
(Lulu)

tyrone sanders does family matter on luludotcom

Now the new Does Family Really Matter book is available to everyone. This book delivers a true resolution for families being reunited. Parents having better connections with their children and marriages being reconstructed. Some might ask, does family really matter? Within this amazing book for families around the world, you will receive an answer. This book is truly a blessing for families around the world. After reading this book, you should never have to ask if family really matter ever again.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the idea and inspiration to write Does Family Really Matter?

Tyrone Sanders: One day when I was visiting family and we reminisced about the good old days. The question of how much I cared about everybody came up. I have shown love for my father, mother, siblings, children, and cousins, so I was not sure why the question came up. I sat there for a moment and told them that family really does matter to me.

Being the visionary that I am, I went over the fun and details of that specific day with my family and how important they made me feel. I came up with the idea to write Does Family Really Matter.

JP: Why did you decide to make this story both a novel and a stage play?

TS: As I read my story, I noticed Does Family Really Matter encompassed a lot of issues that people could relate to. This includes issues such as addictions, love, trust, consideration, faith, understanding, friendship, gang violence, loyalty, restoration, faithfulness and most importantly forgiveness. I saw a message of restoration that the whole world could use. That is the reason for delivering it in a novel and stage play performance.

JP: As an author, what are the keys your success that lead to Does Family Really Matter getting out to the public?

TS: Well, I tested my story locally first. Then I gave it a test through my family members across the country to see what they thought about my work. When my family liked it, I pushed forward in sharing it with the world.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take for you to start and finish Does Family Really Matter?

TS: As an author, I don’t procrastinate or keep waiting until the mood hits me. Although I came up with the idea, it took about two months to start working on the project and about four and a half months to finish writing the story. I started writing Does Family Really Matter in June and finished it in November of 2008.

JP: What’s next for Tyrone Sanders?

TS: My next project is another play, but I don’t think it will be a novel also. The next play is called, If These Walls Could Talk. It is totally a gospel play, totally a thrill and totally what the world can use in the realms of restoration and forgiveness.

5 Minutes, 5 Questions With… Samaya Young, author of The W.I. Investigations

5 Minutes, 5 Questions With…
Samaya Young, author of The W.I. Investigations
(Lulu Publishing)

samaya young the wi investigations on amazondotcom

W.I. Investigations has opened for its first day in the story “Shape Shifter”, introducing Vin Rubio and his new partner Willow Mooserunner. They are asked to check up on their boss’ recluse friend to find out who is harassing him. What they find is something not of this world.

In “The Martyr”, unlikely partners, Ru Pascall and Wally Saunders, trail a ruthless serial killer who is able to see the future. At that same time, sisters Elyse and Ashley plunge into the occult to search for a dangerous sect in the case of “The White Doves”. They discover that its founders possess the ability to control the minds of their followers and perhaps even the sisters’.

In Case 4 “Hero” Ayre Walsh is allowed to work her much-wanted first assignment. Her father asks her to find a mysterious man, who saves innocent would-be victims just before disaster strikes.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the idea and inspiration to write The W. I. Investigations?

Samaya Young: I’ve always loved thrillers and paranormal stories, gritty realism with a hint of the extraordinary. I’ve always been a huge fan of TV shows such as Law & Order, Medium, Criminal Minds and the X-Files. I wondered what it would be like to create a series of stories with all the elements combined.

Rather than pick two main characters, I liked the diversity of several pairs. That allowed me to diversify in the individual cases and also the dynamics between partners. The W.I. Investigations specialize in the extraordinary cases where normal authorities don’t know how to, or can’t, proceed.

JP: What sets The W. I. Investigations apart from other novels in its genre?

SY: With these stories I’ve tried to create a new writing style that combines literature with cinematography. I’m fusing imagery and story development, much like it would be when you switch on the TV and watch your favorite show. Basically that means that I designed The W.I. Investigations for easy reading.

From all around, I’ve been hearing that readers have less and less time for reading. With the W.I.’s, you can just pick a free moment without needing to go through the “settle-in” ritual. I want you to be able to pick up a story in a bus or train, to and from work, during lunch or in your favorite reading chair.

Uncomplicated escapism wherever you are, in separately bound stories, or as volumes 1 to 4 in a single bound bundle.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that lead to The W. I. Investigations getting out to the public?

SY: Having fun writing, this is main ingredient that every author needs. The support of family and friends who all love the people I created. Devotion to the stories and their characters and a need to share them with like minds. Then just gritting my teeth, going ahead and taking the plunge.

It is scary, exciting and a continuing road of discovery, in every aspect.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take for you to start and finish The W. I. Investigations?

SY: I started with the main idea of W.I. back in ’99, I believe. The individual cases/stories started out as fun relaxing scribbles while I was in-between bigger projects. They grew from there.

It’s a collection of paranormal tales about a versatile group of detectives learning to work together and form a bond of trust and friendship while facing danger time and again.

This rapidly created a new world for me. Once that happened, it became inevitable that I would continue with them, and I did. Writing these cases and the multitude of opportunities the original idea offers is without limit and makes it a beginning of many more to come.

JP: What’s next for Samaya Young?

SY: W.I. Investigations Vol. 5-8 is near completion, of course. I have a cookbook for vegetarians, which is in the process of being completed. But also, a brand new series of full-length psychological thrillers going under the main title “No Escape From Rising Sun”. This series of stories doesn’t aim for the paranormal angle but espionage, terrorism and a dangerous sect intent on ruling the world, instead.

Other than that…whichever way the muses take me.
