Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Lies Confessions & Consequences?
Brian L. King: I am always inspired by everyday real life events. Every story that I write, is happening in someone’s life or has happened in someone’s life. And hopefully every story I tell will Enlighten, Educate and Entertain my readers and possibly help make them more aware of their life or the lives of the people around them.
JP: What sets Lies Confessions & Consequences apart from other books in the same genre?
B L K: Well, to stand out, you should do things better or do them differently. I believe my books are both, they are very unique in a way that makes you want to do some research to see if I’m fabricating certain things in my stories or am I really telling the truth. I want to educate and promote literacy to my readers and enlighten them in an entertaining way.
JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Lies Confessions & Consequences getting out to the public?
B L K: Promote, market, sell! Promote, market, sell! I am constantly marketing and promoting my books anytime and anywhere. And making them available in as many places as I can, whether they buy them electronically or buying a hard copy.
And last but not least, word-of-mouth from my readers! This is the best marketing tool that any author could have to promote their book.
JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Lies Confessions & Consequences?
B L K: First, I come up with an idea of what I want to write about,. Sometimes a title will hit me right away. Then, I think of character names that will best depict the people I am creating. I wrote my first book Dysenfranchised Lovers in order from start to finish. Now I write in any order, I write what I am feeling the most passionate about at that time. It took me about seven to eight months to complete Lies Confessions & Consequences.
JP: What’s next for Brian L. King?
B L K: I am finishing up my first self-help/ self-motivation book called Detoxify Your Life. It’s about raising your quality of life, which every person has a human legal right to do. It is based on health, communication, family/ mixed families, professionalism and personal standards.
Also I am writing a novel called Deceived from the Womb (A True Story). It’s about a woman who was born premature fighting for her life, to being separated from her father at an early age, molested on and off from the age of four until about 20 by the next door neighbor. Now he’s her step-father. (By the grace of God, gave her mother AIDS and not her.) By age six, her mother was strung out on crack because of her husband. Her mother used her as payment for drugs which three men raped her in a garage, left her naked and for dead. This is followed by another string of events that caused her to try to commit suicide twice. It is a drama filled emotional real life story.
I want to thank you for this opportunity and for passing my information out to your viewers. And I hope all of us authors can work together as a team to help promote literacy in our own way because:
