JoeyPinkney.com Exclusive Interview
5 Minutes, 5 Questions With…
Rena X, author of Trouble
(Editing Couture)
Trouble was inspired by actual events. It’s about a girl growing up in Chicago, overcoming sexual molestation, drug dealing and growing up too fast. She learns forgiveness, redemption and how to trust again.
Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Trouble?
Rena X: It actually started out as a diary. I decided to throw a little fiction in it and turn it into a novel.
JP: What sets Trouble apart from other books in the same genre?
RH: The fact that it is inspired by actual events and the time-line it illustrates.
JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Trouble getting out to the public?
RH: Faith.
JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Trouble?
RH: Seven years. These things were very difficult for me to write. I stopped and started many times.
JP: What’s next for Rena X?
RH: Trouble II. I think it would be very interested to see Trouble as an adult.
