(Xlibris)
It is a fantasy journey that includes Vampires, Star Trek, The Wizard of Oz, Michael Jackson, Hurricane Katrina, Scott Joplin, Dick Clark, Salome, The St. Louis Arch, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Brady Bunch, So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing With The Stars, Dance Styles, Celebrities, Dancers, Dance History and something that we can all relate to – Holiday Meal Celebrations!
Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write “The Vampire Dancer Saga Part 2″?
Shalimar Ali: Three bats somehow slipped into my house, and I wanted them dead! I hate mice and birds, so bats are like deadly combination of flying mice. One bat got caught in a mouse trap, and I asked my grand kids to throw them out of the house.
They said the bat looked sad and did not want the bat to die and gave him pity. That gave me some sympathy toward the bat instead of fear. This led my imagination to bats and vampires.
JP: What sets “The Vampire Dancer Saga Part 2″ apart from other books in the same genre?
SA: Chapter 4 – Michael Jackson dances back from the grave! Each chapter provides a fantasy about a dance contest featuring favorite celebrities and dancers. You never know who might show up in “The Vampire Dancer Saga Part 2” from this world or an Alternate Universe.
JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to “The Vampire Dancer Saga Part 2″ getting out to the public?
SA: Social networking, and lots of it!
JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish “The Vampire Dancer Saga Part 2″?
SA: I finished “The Vampire Dancer Saga Part” 1 in July. I had so many ideas that didn’t make it in Part 1 that I just had to write the ongoing tales that were in my mind.
It took a couple of months to get a storyboard going to figure out the who, what, where, why and when. Once that was complete, it was smooth sailing. So roughly from July to November.
JP: What’s next for Shalimar Ali?
SA: “The Vampire Dancer Holiday Cookbook”, “The Vampire Dancer Saga Part 3” and maybe, just maybe if I can pull it off: A Vampire Dancer World Tour, just like in Chapter 1.
