Which Books Did You Get For Christmas?

I hope you all had a great Christmas.

It was fun seeing my 3-year-old and 14-year-old daughters spend all of 30 minutes totally destroying the living room with wrapping paper, torn cardboard and discarded toys. You know those people who sample everything at the buffet but never finish any one dish the walk back to their table with? Yeah… That’s what my daughters reminded me of.

Gotta love it, right?

I actually got a book for Christmas. Yes! And guess what? It was made out of…you guessed it…paper!

A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose (Oprah’s Book Club, Selection 61)

I haven’t had a chance to crack it open, but I’ve heard it was good. So, we’ll see…

What books did you get for Christmas? If you didn’t get a book, what books would you have liked to get? Please comment below. I look forward to your comments.

    1. Wow! I’ve never heard of this series, but I must be the only person in the world who hasn’t. After doing a little research, I see that Mr. Johnson is a force to be reckoned with. You got some real good reading ahead of you.

Let me know your thoughts on this series when you get a chance.

  3. Ok, ok… That Jay-Z looks like it’s going to be an interesting peak into what makes him tick. I know he’s too smart to lay all of his cards out there, but he’s smart enough to lay enough out there to keep one’s interest.

And Vanzant’s book will also be an interesting look into her life after “making it big”.

    Thank you for sharing.

  4. I received three books:

“Pedagogies of Crossing: Meditations on Feminism, Sexual Politics, Memory, and the Sacred – Perverse Modernities” by M. Jacqui Alexander; “American Gods” by Neil Gaiman &
“Tipping the Velvet” by Sarah Waters

I also received an Amazon gift certificate so I’m going to order “Word Warriors: 35 Women Leaders in the Spoken Word Revolution” by Alix Olson and Eve Ensler & a few other non-decided works.

  5. We read a lot of mysteries just for entertainment. Got the latest James Patterson book – so he wouldn’t kill Alex Cross – and the latest from Laura Lippman, “I’d Know You Anywhere.”
