Kiera and Elijah used to be the ultimate high school sweethearts. After marrying in college and enduring challenge after challenge throughout their years together, their marriage fell into ruins.

Numerous disappointments and betrayals broke Kiera down to an empty shell of who she used to be. Now that she has reached her forties, she tries to find her way back to herself by joining a volunteer organization, where she meets a young fitness trainer named Brandon.

Faced with dynamic chemistry and a marriage that is in shambles, Kiera finds herself torn on how she wants to live the rest of her life. Should she save her marriage with a man she used to fall head over heels for, or pursue a man who promises her a life of fun and adventure?

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Sinful Affair?

J. Brinkley: People inspire me.

JP: What sets Sinful Affair apart from other books in the same genre?

JB: I focus on writing relatable stories.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Sinful Affair getting out to the public?

JB: Consistency. Constantly writing and promoting.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Sinful Affair?

JB: About a month. This is giving myself some room to play with. I can really write these books in two weeks. However, I don’t like rushing.

JP: What’s next for J. Brinkley?

JB: New material. I have a new book release on August 8th 2020 called “Lead Me into Love.” I think people will be able to relate because of the COVID-19 situation and the protesting. In spite of all this some people still seeking to be loved.

JP: The adventure of writing can be an interesting teacher. What have you learned either about the process of writing this saga or about this storyline that you didn’t know and /or couldn’t imagine before embarking on this path to publication? What are some experiences and/or techniques you will take into the next installment in this saga?

PF: Letting the story come out more organically is the best route for my style of writing. My first attempt at designing a novel had me writing a full outline, intricate sub-plots, and detailed character profiles. Some of these were helpful, but I learned that designing a full outline hindered my creative side rather than facilitated it especially when taking the first-person perspective approach. Joey Pinkney: In your coming-of-age autobiography The Art of Saying No: the memoir of a naive poet, you are very careful to tell the truth about your vulnerability as a child and how that vulnerability was replaced with a hardened mindset. Loving yourself means giving yourself room to be vulnerable, but it also means being hardened enough to protect your vulnerability from parasitic distractions. Why was writing about this balance, in the context of your own life, important? And how will your readers most benefit from this aspect of your memoir – the balance between being vulnerable and hardened?

LaMont Anthony Wright: First off, that’s a great question. I have a theory, LOL… I was very curious coming up – as most kids are. Maybe more so, because I am a so-called “creative”. Unfortunately, there weren’t many mentors around when I was coming up. My youth was in the 70’s and 80’s. So between the Vietnam War and Ronald Reagan’s “War on Drugs,” a lot of men who may have been leaders in the community were either dead or in jail.
