(Self)
Growing up in the Bronx in the 1980’s for Ebony was big fun, she thought that her life would always be that way. So much changed when she had children. With motherhood in full tow, she quickly learns that there is more to life than material things and care-free partying.
After a lot of hard work and with her life seemingly on the right track, Ebony gets a rude awakening about her relationship and is suddenly forced to make a life-altering decision. Will she follow her head or her heart to make the right decision.
Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Oops! A Bronx Girls Tale?
Diahann Carroll: My upbringing and my drive to become an inspiration to others.
JP: What sets Oops! A Bronx Girls Tale apart from other books in the same genre?
DC: The author! I have a style unlike any that I’ve seen. Since my book shadows my life a little, I have the luxury of writing the truth with a twist.
JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Oops! A Bronx Girls Tale getting out to the public?
DC: Persistence, determination and research. Personal interactions have helped a lot. I get a lot of hand-to-hand sales.
JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Oops! A Bronx Girls Tale?
DC: The book took 4 years to write. I’d write a little, put it aside, go back and write more. I have 9 children so you can probably see what keeps me busy 🙂
JP: What’s next for Diahann Carroll?
DC: My play, “The Power of a Praying Man”.
