Lukewarm Saint takes you into the life of Kevin Watkins, a handsome Brooklyn Educator who happens to be a strong ladies man. But what is he to do when torn between what he wants and the reoccurring feelings of guilt?

Kevin’s best friends are polar opposites: one, a born-again Christian, and the other, the owner of a gentleman’s club. Both men want Kevin to lean towards their contrasting ways of thinking. Kevin’s mother and grandmother try their best to steer him clear of his womanizing legacy – a legacy left behind by his father and grandfather.

What will he decide to do? What will it take for Kevin to make a decision? How long can a person tempt the Lord before the Lord decides to say, “Enough”? Lukewarm Saint will answer those questions and many, many more.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Lukewarm Saint?

K. L. Belvin: I created Lukewarm Saint to ask readers to consider where is that line drawn when making an important decision about the way they enter into and exit out of interpersonal relationship involving romance and lust. Whether you believe in God or not, there is a point in our lives when we make some critical decisions or the choices will be made for us.

We all have friends and/or parents who want us to consider making moves in our lives based on what they see and know. Lukewarm Saint challenges the reader to think outside of the box we tend to put ourselves in unknowingly.

JP: What sets Lukewarm Saint apart from other books in the same genre?

KLB: Lukewarm Saint is different because of who I am as a person and as an author. I am not knocking my contemporaries, but I write from my heart, and readers enjoy of where I am coming from with my talents. I am sure the person that I am is different than anyone else, and it shows in my style of writing.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that lead to Lukewarm Saint getting out to the public?

KLB: One major key to the success of Lukewarm Saint is starting early with the marketing, branding and promoting of this title. Nowadays, an author has to use all of the social media sites to help get the word out. They must be engaging and entertaining long before the book is ready. People support what they like and what they’re curious about. An author has the power to gain momentum for any given book if they start early enough.

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Lukewarm Saint?

KLB: My writing process is strange. Lukewarm Saint took a year and a half to finish. I am not like many authors. I will walk away from a project for months at a time. Many authors say that their characters speak to them and that they can’t do anything until it’s down on paper. That’s not me.

I get bored sometimes while working on a manuscript. When this happens, I leave it alone, work on something else, or just work on the promotion to help reignite the flame to finish. Having Attention Deficit Disorder has much to do with my short attention span, but I don’t use that as an excuse.

JP: What’s next for K. L. Belvin?

KLB: I am currently working on Lukewarm Saint 2:, The Fox in the Hen House and Josiah’s Pain. I am also working on my second Masters Degree, so I am not rushing to the computer to work on either book with the amount of the school work I have. I have no set deadlines on either manuscript. However, if my readers demand it, I think I’ll have to sit my behind down and get them completed and published.
