5 Minutes, 5 Questions With…
Baje Fletcher, author of A Gold Digger’s Guide (How to get what you want, without giving it up)
(Glitz and Glamour Publishing)
A self-help book for single, financially savvy women, A Gold Digger’s Guide outlines how to dress, present yourself, what subjects to get educated in and what type of places to visit in order to meet and attract wealthy men.
It not only gives pointers on how to get financial favors from your suitors without giving IT up, it also gives pointers on how to make the money you accumulated work for you in the future.
Baje Fletcher shares the lessons she’s learned over the years and inspires women around the globe to never lose sight of their goals.
Gold Digging or GOAL Digging? You decide.
Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write A Gold Digger’s Guide (How to get what you want, without giving it up)?
Baje Fletcher: I saw the need for some direction and ‘real’ practical advice for women in my community.
JP: What sets A Gold Digger’s Guide (How to get what you want, without giving it up) apart from other books in the same genre?
BF: This book breaks down different types of men and stategies to use with each. Also, it gives an exit strategy to the game by informing women to not only to save and budget but also to invest the money they accumulate.
It isn’t a book for women whose short-term goal is to get married or long term goal is to be dependent on men. It’s for single, financially savvy women who aspire to pave their own way but won’t hesitate in utilizing financial favors from guys to get to their destination.
JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to A Gold Digger’s Guide (How to get what you want, without giving it up) getting out to the public?
BF: This is what I learned.
- I couldnt be afaid of controversy.
- I learned that being/thinking different from most was only a weakness IF I thought it was.
- I didnt rely on a publicist to get me in the public’s eye. I knocked on every door myself.
- I thought big. I went after the biggest fish in the sea first (Oprah, Dr. Phil and Tyra).
- With each media that interviewed me, I asked them for a referal to another.
- I used the critism to make my book better/stronger
- Most importantly, I never let my vision slip…not even for a moment, even when those closest to me didn’t think it would work.
JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish A Gold Digger’s Guide (How to get what you want, without giving it up)?
BF: It took me 2 weeks to write 80 – 90 % of the book. Once I narrowed down my target market, I communicated with them constantly to find out what was most imortant to them. I turned my phone off, disconnected from the Internet and locked myself in my home until it was complete. (I had to get rid of every distraction).
JP: What’s next for Baje Fletcher?
BF: I’ve already started to mentor other women 1-on-1. Next step is the GOAL Digger’s Club where like-minded, GOAL-oriented women share ideas, dreams, read, travel, volunteer and invest.
