Tina “Tee” Long lives a life that reality TV shows are made of. As one of Memphis’ most sought after event planners, she spends her days planning lavish events and mingling with the social elite, while withstanding her sister’s drama-filled marriage, counseling wayward youth and sharing the ups and downs of existing with her hilarious girlfriends. But there’s one thing missing from her fairy tale life – her prince charming.

After a string of failed, faith-challenging relationships this woman of God refuses to give up on meeting the man of her dreams. Tee knows in her heart that God will answer her prayers – SOMEDAY.

When Tee is introduced to an incredibly handsome, recently retired NFL player named Michael Stokes it seems that someday has finally arrived. There’s one problem. He’s been marked for death. Can Tee accept a man who has a killer on his trail and a surprising new addition to his family?

Someday is full of adventure, excitement, thrills, laughter, and love as Tee and Michael fight to stay alive in order to stay together.

Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Someday?

Jae Henderson: With Someday, I wanted to offer encouragement to Christian singles. My main characters are celibate, but they aren’t perfect by any means. I tried to paint an accurate picture of the challenges that come with being celibate. It isn’t easy. It takes a lot of faith and will power but it also has some wonderful benefits. It becomes more interesting when you are dating. In a romance novel you definitely have to explore that.

I also put characters in there who aren’t celibate but are struggling with their faith in other ways. Although the main characters are single and celibate, there is something for everyone. Each of us faces challenges at some point, and we all need to be reminded to keep the faith and to count our blessings from time to time.

JP: What sets Someday apart from other books in the same genre?

JH: I don’t just tell an entertaining Inspirational/Christian romance story. I give applicable tools to help people with their Christian walk. There are Bible verses, prayers, and great principles readers can use to encourage themselves and others to live a life that is pleasing to God. Yet, I do this without preaching. I call my style of writing moral messaging. The morals are weaved within an entertaining story, kind of like the fables so many of us were told as children.

I’ve also added some suspense and humor to keep the reader unable to put Someday down. The feedback from readers has been astounding. I am humbled to have had such praise for my first novel and to have accomplished my goal of letting others know that they are not alone. We all make mistakes during our Christian walk, but that doesn’t mean that God stops loving us. His grace and mercy is always present.

JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Someday getting out to the public?

JH: Here are the keys to my success:

  1. Have faith
  2. Dream big
  3. Develop a plan
  4. Work hard
  5. Be persistent

JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Someday?

JH: I began writing Someday in college, which was over 10 years ago. One day, I found the files on my computer and started adding to the story. At first, I had very little discipline, and I wasn’t serious about becoming a writer. I only wrote when I felt like it, which wasn’t very often.

After I got serious about becoming a published author, it took me about a year to complete the process. I tried to write regularly, did several edits and asked a few people to read my book and give me feedback. Feedback from readers, editors, and other writers is very important because it helps to make sure you have given a complete coherent story. Others will notice places that need improvement that you, as the writer, may have overlooked.

JP: What’s next for Jae Henderson ?

JH: Someday is part of a trilogy. The sequel, Someday, Too, was released in February of this year and I hope to have the finale, Forever and A Day, out by the end of this year.

All of these books are a part of my I’m A Good Woman Literary Series, which is an extension of my women’s motivational website, http://www.imagoodwoman.com. By the end of the summer, I will begin releasing a series of short stories called “5 Things Every Good Woman Should Know”. The first is entitled, “You Are Beautiful”.
