3 of 5 Stars

Visualize the vignettes from a man with a mind for the sensual. Chris Mainor’s XXXPleasures: Seductive Bliss is a book full of scenarios where sex and seduction are the two main ingredients. If this book was a movie, the first three letters of the book’s title lets you know which rating it would be given by the Motion Picture Association of America.

XXXPleasures: Seductive Bliss’ cover sets the tone appropriately – a naked couple locked in a passionate embrace. That lets you know what you are in for before embarking on the book’s journey. Before reading this book, you need to grab a few items: an oscillating fan, a Continue reading JoeyPinkney.com Book Review: XXXPleasures: Seductive Bliss by Chris Mainor

The Pride
by Faydra D. Fields
5 of 5 Stars

The Pride, Faydra D. Fields’ debut novel, is unconventional in concept, yet impeccable in its approach to an interesting conundrum: a single Black man with ten children by four different women. Sounds like it’s going to be high in low-brow drama, right? Wrong!

Sin’s Iniquity
by Sylvia Hubbard
4 of 5 Stars

Sin’s Iniquity, by Sylvia Hubbard, is a very intricate tale of love, a blurry past and a shaky future. The main character, Sinclaire McGentry, is at the center of a whirlwind that whisks her out of her comfort zone that was not so comforting to begin with. Not satisfied with her plus-sized figure, she is very subconscious of her appearance. She easily hides behind her pursuit of a law degree and maintaining a house out of which she rents rooms.

Sinclaire McGentry’s self-hatred stemmed from her mother’s loose and frivolous lifestyle and total disregard of any stage of Sinclaire’s life or Continue reading Book Review: Sin’s Iniquity by Sylvia Hubbard
