Are authors able to make a living today off book sales in today’s market? Have today’s market changed how many books readers purchased? Is it getting better or worse?

My book is about the decisions we make in life based on the the fast life of sex, money and power. Three stories are being told in one. The life of a stripper who’s trying to find her way in life. A corrupt cop who’s hell bent on absolute power stuck in between two worlds. And a rapper who wants to get out of the streets and conquer the hip-hop world. Also, two detectives who have to solve each crime that happens in the three stories.
